Book Description

March 20, 2012
For millennia, dragon and fae have peacefully co-existed, but the fae themselves have lived segregated and very different lives. Now a malevolence threatens to separate them all permanently. Can a Queen's guard and a rebellious outlaw join forces to defeat this common enemy? Tyler's touch sparks fierce desire, drawing Issie to him, but she despises his way of life and all that palace society represents. If he learns she wields majic to help the less fortunate escape the kingdom, he'll charge her with treason. Her punishment - death. Issie is a sassy rebel who is constantly looking for ways to circumvent the conventions of their society. Tyler's head warns that she's a non-majical lower, beneath him. His heart sees by her inner strength and outer beauty. Only a binding love will lend them strength to save her life - their world. Can either of them bend enough to trust that love?

More About the Author

Marne Ann Kirk grew up wild, running and exploring the vast high deserts and mountains of Idaho, Montana, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado with her family as a child. She loved making up stories and, well, lied about just about everything. Thankfully, she grew out of the lying stage...now she calls it story-telling.

Her debut novel, "Love Chosen: Book One of The Fae Dragon Chronicles," is available March, 2012. "Love Dared: Book Two of The Fae Dragon Chronicles," is available in 2013! "Goddess on the Run," book one of her paranormal romance series, the Holy Water Warriors' Tales, is available September 17, 2012.

Marne Ann has amazing kids and fantabulous grandsons who rock her world and keep her on her toes. She has too many Shih-Tzus, and they work hard at distracting her from writing. Marne Ann loves loves the mountains, but in a perfect world she would spend a few months a year on the beach. Preferably in Mexico or Jamaica.

4.0 out of 5 stars a Majical Tale August 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This novel, the Fae Dragon Chronicle, Book 1, Love Chosen was a very pleasant surprise. When you do reviews, you sometimes get a misconception of what a book will be like. Fantasy can branch out into so many different directions, it is hard to know what to expect. Ms. Kirk has taken this genre and combined just the right mix of fantasy, mystery, and romance, to make a truly interesting story for all genre fans.

We find a world of Fae that live in a caste system. They are ruled by Queen Morgana and her Council. The classes are determined by the majic each Fae youngling is born with. The Uppers, or the ones found with majic, live in apartments in the castle. The Lowers are left to their own resources, living in town and working by their own devices.

We meet Issie, our snarky strong willed heroine, running the Inn in town. She seems to be a bar maid of sorts, but you cannot judge a book by its cover. Issie had lost her power, and she and her parents were separated by this caste system. This has made Issie/Elisabeth the person she is now. Unbenownst to anyone, she has been given back her powers, and keeps this hidden from all, including her parents. She continues to live with the Lowers and protect them. The Queen's guards have shown up, looking for one of their own; with Tyler, the one in charge. He sees Issie, and we the reader realize this is where our story begins.

Marne Ann Kirk has written a truly wonderful love story. These two young people struggle to find each other, keep each other, and learn about who they are as well. They may have to change old habits, misconceptions of what they originally believed, as they both wade through peril, death and deception.

We are taken to a world where Dragons fly and where majic abounds. There are sinister villains, and painful scenes when darkness begins to invade their beautiful land. Issie has to learn if she can trust someone with her heart, and to not be afraid to let the anger out and the love in. Tyler has to learn that his arrogance and snobbery have no place in any world, especially Issie's. We are brought to a sensual love story, marked all through the book with each character afraid to `let go'.

We trust we know who the enemy is, his evil and hatred exudes off the pages. He is evil and has to be destroyed. Can Tyler and Issie do this? The Dragons have had to leave to evade the darkness that is covering their land. Will the Dragons be able to return? Will we hear from Fendra no more? The Queens youngling Kissendra has been stolen. Will we find her? I must say the story has a good happy-for-now ending, yet it opens the door for more. I have a love of a few side characters. What will become of Dare? How are Issie and Tyler and Jacquelie doing? How is the queen? See what I mean? I have a million questions for Ms. Kirk to work her Majic for a sequel!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great fantasy escape April 30, 2012
Format:Paperback
This is not my usual choice of genre, but this book had me hooked from the beginning. The fantasy world into which I escaped was so developed, I felt as though this world existed somewhere and I had just stumbled into it. The heroine could communicate with her dragon friend just through their thoughts. Very cool. I can't say that as an adult, I've read a book involving dragons, but this story made me wonder if maybe I've been missing something. The characters are interesting, plot intriguing, and the romance is, well-- your pulse will be more than sufficiently racing. The hero and heroine have a fantastic relationship going on (love/hate, you know they'll get together but when??) There's even a moral lesson as the heroine fights against discrimination in her world. If fantasy romance is your thing, you should definitely check out this book.
