The season itself is great, the reason for the one star; the shows would stop and go with my system, PC-DSL. I had better result with the Youtube feed. As a reminder, the one star goes to the problem not the Law & Order Season.

I really like this episode it sticks to the debates we have today in science. But that is an individual preference.

Ok, ok. I will start by saying that I am bias. Law & Order is my favorite series. Season 17 is wonderful with great story lines. The only issue I have is the lack of chemistry between the detectives. (I don't mean romantic.) The bond lacks a bit of believability. They are not quite the dynamic-duo we are use to seeing with Law & Order detectives. However, in the end, it is still a great series.

What I appreciate much of the Law/Order series...all good but my favorites if it is possible to do that ...IS the issue oriented stories re the big corp. or politicians, perhaps the religious fanatics that destroy and damage any in those professions that are doing good, etc...but Sam Waterston's character, Linus Roach, Alana De La Garcia, the detectives, all of them good on that series and any of the other Law/Order shows ...makes for good solid stories because we know they or things like them do happen every day if we pick up the daily news.
I like the reality (sadly though it is) that tho' so much bad, so much evil is out there forever, we must hope that these Law & Order actors are portraying the real professionals that we do have in our communities...at least some are out there like the ones here portrayed.
I like the characters portrayed in the TV stories (at least many of them) who are out there fighting and stopping the evil when they can...Last, the courtroom drama is never better than when Sam Waterston or Linus Roach...OR as we have seen...Alana De La Garcia is arguing the cases.

I'm a big fan of Law & Order, and so far I own 7 of the 20 seasons. But Season 17, which has the same tight writing, top-notch acting and suspenseful plots as the rest, falls down...and the fault lies with Milena Govich, brought in as a female detective. Although S. Epatha Merkerson is a terrific female lieutenant, there is (and has always been) an imbalance in the cast which leans heavily towards men. It's generally okay with me, because law enforcement is a traditionally male profession. Sam Waterston, as the liberal District Attorney, always overshadows his female assistants (who are unusually beautiful). So there is a lack, but Milena Govitch doesn't fill it. Part of it is obviously in the scripts, which show her character as inexperienced and prone to error. Part of it is in her acting, which tends toward the wide-eyed look of a deer in the headlights, with mouth slightly ajar. Part of it is in the lack of chemistry. The detectives have historically been on edgy terms, but this pairing has neither romance, conflict nor friendship. She's like a kid sister tagging along. Is this season worth watching? Absolutely. There are "ripped from the headlines" spin-offs and controversy galore. But it isn't the best in the twenty-year-long series.
