About the Author

Dr Eva Cwynar, MD, is an endocrinologist, metabolic medicine specialist and internist practicing in Beverly Hills, CA. Dr. Cwynar provides medical care that includes state-of-the-art testing for fatigue, metabolism, weight loss, and anti-aging. Her clients include both high-profile celebrities and everyday people. Dr Cwynar is on faculty at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, serves as an assistant clinical professor of medicine at UCLA, and is world-renowned for her expertise in bio-identical hormone replacement, menopause and 'male' menopause, thyroid function, weight loss and overcoming fatigue. All this book really does is give the reader some ideas of tests that they can talk to their doctor about running. I have been dealing with fatigue since a young age and for years now and I didn't find anything even close to helpful in this book though I suppose in part that is because it is aimed at older readers. I hoped for some natural solutions I could use and didn't find them. I know to exercise and how to eat right. I know the importance of sleep and what conditions contribute to good sleep and understand managing stress. Everyone knows when you don't have enough substantial material for a book you fill it with recipies which is what this author did. She also seems woefully out of touch with the reality of the general populace at times. I don't even have health insurance at this point so I guess unlike her I won't be getting an awesome sounding lipomassage every monday to ease muscle tension from my weekends spent skiing.

I have heard Dr. Cwynar on radio talk shows and I thought her book would be interesting. It all seemed to make sense as I was reading it until I got to her section on gluten. I have celiac disease so I am particularly interested in this topic and am also educated on the science behind celiac disease. Dr. Cwynar is not! She explains in her book that those with celiac disease are allergic to gluten...this is incorrect! Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that has NOTHING to do with an allergy! She also states that gluten is contained in corn. It is NOT! She then recommends other foods that you can substitute for foods containing gluten...barley and rye are two suggestions. BARLEY AND RYE CONTAIN GLUTEN!

She is so misinformed about the medical information surrounding celiac disease that I had to put the book down and stop reading it. I had no faith in any of the supposed science that she includes in this book. I am afraid that most of it is her own misinformed version of science that helps her sell books. Don't waste your money like I did.

I was interested in this book because I personally have suffered with Adrenal Fatigue and it is no laughing matter. Thanks to a wonderful naturopath, I was PROPERLY tested, and given a correct diagnosis regarding my hormone levels. Regular MD's did not address this but instead threw at me xanax, anti-depressants, and blood pressure medication. All of these left me feeling out of my body, tired, and very dizzy.

Nearly three months later I am pharmaceutical free, I take bio-identical hormones, and I don't have energy crashes. I will be honest. This book would not have helped me except for one chapter, "Get Tested" and "Check Your Thyroid." Many of her tips are things I have heard all the time. Now, if you are completely unfamiliar with the obvious ways of health then you will find this book worth the purchase. These are things like sleeping enough, getting exercise, and making the food on your plate "beautiful" so you want to eat it. All of these things I knew and actually DID when I was diagnosed with adrenal fatigue. So, try those things, yes! That is probably why the testing and thyroid - more medical information - is included towards the end of the book.

Most things in this book can be found by simply getting facebook feeds to people like JJ Virgin or Dr. Mark Hyman. I would not pay $25.95 for that information.

The testing information is good, but not worth paying the entire book. Also, many people give free webinar calls on these things for free online.

In the end, I would find myself a naturopathic Dr. or a holistic MD and take my symptoms directly there.

Finally, a book with answers. The Fatigue Solution offers exactly that - a real solution, not just pharmalogical band-aids for the number one issue facing patients today - getting back to the energy levels we had in our youth. This isn't the trite -eat better, exercise more - advice we always hear. She goes beyond this - well beyond this - combining common sense with cutting edge diagnostic tools that are available to everyone. Hormone balance, food sensitivities, personalized nutritional profiling - her approach covers it all. And the case studies really drive her points home. It is comprehensive, yet realistic. A must read for anyone who scoffs at the idea that fatigue should be a normal consequence of aging.

This book was very disappointing. First of all, you have to read through a lot of fluff (e.g. Dr Cwynar praise to herself, made up patient stories, etc) to get to any real valuable information. A whole chapter about improving your sex life, really? How relevant is it? Basically, it's all about getting massages and sniffing aromatherapy candles with a few actually medical facts in between. But what is more concerning is the vast amount of unproven and biased information that leads people astray from finding out a true medical cause for their fatigue and urges them to spend money on some bogus tests. She preaches all the controversial conditions, such as leaky gut syndrome or yeast overgrowth as if they are medically proven facts and never lets her reader know that truth - they are just theories. As a medical professional myself, I expect a book from a physician to present information objectively for what it is. She is clearly more interested in making herself into a female Dr. Weil guru persona than helping people to uncover the true cause of their fatigue.
