Book Description

April 2002 1586635727 978-1586635725 9th Printing
At the height of the debates over the adoption of the Constitution in 1787-88, a series of articles began to appear in the New York Journal. Their author, calling himself "Publius," urged the ratification of the new constitution, offering, in Thomas Jefferson’s words, "the best commentary on the principles of government, which was ever written." These eighty-five articles, commonly known as "The Federalist Papers," were in reality the work of three men; Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay. These papers were soon collected and printed in book form in 1788 under the title The Federalist. This is an updated version of those famous papers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Publius wrote a winner September 14, 2005

It simply does not get better than this. Publius (Hamilton, Jay, Madison) wrote these essays to sell the ratification of the Constitution. They are still reference material for the US Supreme Court. Read and take these to heart if you wish to understand our government and Constitution.

5.0 out of 5 stars We Need This Now December 25, 2013

This should be required reading in High School, perhaps again in college. But don't expect many faculties to adopt the principles which produced a working republic.

It's a bit difficult to read, but the content is excellent.for insights into the Founders' thinking for the Constitution. Recommended reading for all Conservatives.......should be mandatory reading for Liberals.
