Book Description

March 2, 2010

New from the author of ECO CRAFT: a unique approach to stitchery!

Meet the most creative power tool in a stitcher’s arsenal: the ordinary sewing machine! Cutting-edge author Susan Wasinger turns it into a source of fun and experimentation with more than 20 innovative projects—some with surprising variations.

Susan encourages sewers to play with their machines, giving them eye-opening techniques to try: stitch without thread to puncture non-fabric materials; use leather needles to sew through layers of fused felt; reorient seams to transform flat projects into 3-D.  Along with the familiar fabrics and recycled garments, she gets into the spirit of exploration with unexpected materials, from paper and tire tubes to neoprene. And with the skill level set at beginning to intermediate, every crafter can join in!

Projects include:

Bags and Totes

Home décor and gift items

Wearables, such as hats and other accessories

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun easy projects April 22, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I looked through this book at a bookstore before buying it. I actually wasn't going to buy it because many of the projects are simple and easy for me to figure out on my own, if that's what I want to make. But there are a few that are clever and use interesting techniques so I decided to purchase it. There are things to every sewing level. I think I will refer to it a lot because the basic patterns can be updated and upgraded, enhanced and expanded.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fiesty Stitcher Fun Stuff for Busy People August 5, 2010
By Karen
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I just received the book a few days ago - and I think it is really great. While the projects are all fairly easy - they are clever and use some interesting items from around the house. Since I am busy and don't get much time for sewing I love the fun pieces in this book - quick, easy and inexpensive. I think you can take some of the ideas and create beyond for some great gifts or fun things for yourself. I really like the book and think it is great for people on the go --
