This album is a good senses fail album. that's about it. i LOVE senses fail. they got me through a lot in life and they have been my favorite band for YEARS. That being said, I have to give this an HONEST review. the album is a strong effort in the same spirits of their last 2 albums. It offers some hardcore screamo songs, and some good ole' pop punk songs. the thing that drives me INSANE is how they could miss the opportunities in certain songs to add a good solo and a good strong lead. they have some seriously haunting metal-ish riffs and all the great senses fail rhythms.........but no solos. Songs such as "Shark Attack" and "Sick or Sane" off of Still searching and "lungs like gallows", "Wolves at the door" and "Ali for Cody" gave new life to senses fail. I know that Heath Saraceno has departed, and his vocal presence is missed for sure, but i thought that Garrett Zablocki would step up and keep the leads that has rejuvenated the bands aggressive but musically talented roots. NOW, that being said, this is still a great effort from the NJ screamo band. Stand-out tracks would be "the fire" "New Years Eve" "lifeboats" and "Coward", I felt that in "landslide" there was a huge missed opportunity for a nice solo reminiscent of "Priest and the Matador". Like I said before i LOVE this band, and while this is not a bad CD in any aspect, I was just hoping that the band stuck with the solos and try to break away from sounding like "just another emo band" which i HOPE they do not become. "The Fire" definitely fits in the Senses Fail discography and is a good effort, just not their strongest.

This album seems actually like a continuation of Life is Not a Waiting Room, though doesn't capture the same intensity, sense of despair, and dark emotional quality. Contrary to other reviews, I absolutely warship "Life is Not A Waiting Room", and would be completely shocked if they could top it ever. So in a way, I view "The Fire" as a modest and dedicated attempt, a 2010 follow up cd to their 2008 disk, that refills by Senses Fail prescription.
I don't think I could say one completely negative comment about this CD, it's exactly what I expected out of Buddy. He wasn't too enthusiastic about going back to the studio after I listened to a few interviews he provided on the 2008/2009 tour. Though there was a two year gap, it makes sense to the quality of the album's content and sound.
This cd presents a different approach and a different vibe that it slightly more positive. Each track presents a theme of reflection and intervention of the detailed raw emotion and events that was presented on the 2008 Cd. The last track on the disk illustrates a need to breathe and let everything out, and continue on with the necessary evils of life: "everything I've done has made me numb, if i had just one wish it would be to let this out...so let go." The track SAFE HOUSE is an absolutely brilliant articulation of reviewing harsh realities in the past, present, and future; personal and in general. Buddy sings (Safe House): "I'm a number in a lottery/Life's a boardwalk game god rigged to cheat /As the snow falls all along the peaks/ My minds an avalanche I'm digging through to reach /All the things I've tried to shove down deep/ My minds an avalanche I'm digging through to reach"

I love this album, but I seriously can't give it four or five stars...more like 3.8. I recommend this cd only to fans who have heard all their CDs since Depths of Dreams because there are many reoccurring topics and themes within The Fire, that may seem unclear and out of place to a new listener.

i still can't decide if this is my favorite album from Senses Fail, each one has a special nostalgic place in my head. I may be the only one who loves 2008s Life Is Not A Waiting Room. But this is a somewhat return to form in terms of feel, but the sound is a good mix of their last two albums (2008s Life Is Not A Waiting Room, 2006s Still Searching") but times ten. the catchy, poppier songs are the most infectious songs from the bands roster, and the heavy songs are the heaviest the band has ever done. it's sad this band isn't as loved as they were in 2004, especially since the dramatic improvement of singer Buddys vocals and lyrics (while his screams are at his best this album still has some eyebrow raising lines, but overall its Buddy at his best). If you think post-hardcore is ruined by the countless recent scene bands, listen to this album. You'll feel right back in 2003 when the genre was at its peak.

I love Senses Fail! I feel like this album isn't as good as their older songs, but if you are a fan, I can't imagine you not liking this release. I find myself repeating certain songs 3-4 times and I'm still not sick of it.

Another great addition to my collection.

This album is ridiculous. It's the perfect balance of every single one of their albums prior. Every CD that Senses Fail has released has gone hand in hand with the state of mind i've been in at the time. Cop this album, ya dig?

This is a solid album, it has pretty good catchy songs and is much better than the last album which was awful except for two songs.
