Love that the workouts are only 20 minutes.
They move on very fast and it can be a little hard to catch up to or try and stay at an even pace to get the most out of your workout.
This workout is high impact and my knee has been hurting afterward.

My husband and I had originally purchased P90x to workout. After a few months of skipping workouts (because each one was an hour! Who has an hour every day to workout?), I started looking for other options and found The Firm Express: Get Thin in 30. It's perfect! When people ask how the workouts are, I describe it as the girls' version of P90.

Each workout is only 20 minutes! (perfect!). I was surprised how hard the workouts are. Each workout is a total body workout, so The Firm provides you with a workout plan of 3 days a week. They also tell you how much weight to aim for when you're in certain DVD "cycles". For example, cycle one the recommended weight range is 5-8pounds, but for cycle four it's 8-15pounds. I used to love to workout, but lets face it, I'm married, work full-time, and go to school. The 20 minute workouts provide me with everything I was looking for from a workout system (toning and cardio).

The Firm says you'll see results in 10 workouts, and I did! It wasn't anything drastic, but I could tell my legs were more tone. Even my husband could tell a slight difference. I continue to do workout (aiming for the 3 times per week) and I continue to notice that my legs are more tone. I can actually feel a bicep muscle when I flex! Who would have thought that 20 minute workouts would have such good results! And in such a short amount of time. I think I've been using The Firm for about a month now.

The Firm is challenging and rewarding. I was a little worried because each week there's a new trainer/instructor on the DVD, but I love all of them! They are all very motivating, and they do the workout the entire time, if you don't rest, they don't rest. The 8 second "bursts" are challenging too.

I was very surprised at the quality of this DVD set. I would recommend it to anyone!

I love love love these video's. I gained a crazy amount of weight during 2 back to back pregnancys.
90lbs to be exact. I lost 60lbs easily with breastfeeding alone but the last 30lbs just stuck to me.
I was desperate to get my body back to normal. I watched the infommercial then ordered on amazon, cause I always order on amazon. After 3 weeks, I was down 10 lbs and 4 inchs. It was amazing. They are 20 minutes so it's easy to squeeze them in whenever. I did it more often than recommended ( twice a day, every other day) but very rapidly I am working off my last few lbs and I look and feel amazing. I highly recommend these dvd's!

I have a couple of full-length Firm DVDs and have found them to be good workouts, overall. I consider myself to be at the intermediate/advanced exercise level; I'm 35 years old and have been exercising off and on since I graduated from college (~13 years ago). That being said, I can't recommend this program for anyone of any level, for a number of reasons:

1) These DVDs do make use of some moves you've seen in other Firm DVDs, but if you are a beginner and not familiar with other Firm products, you will not know these moves. Unfortunately, the 20 minute time limit on the DVDs in this kit means there is not a proper introduction to the moves and/or combinations for new exercisers. Technique can be especially important, in terms of injury prevention -- especially when you are using weights -- so if you don't know the moves and are flailing about trying to follow the instructor, you might actually hurt yourself.

2) If you are an intermediate or advanced exerciser, you might be able to follow the moves (I could), but you will not get much of a workout. 20 minutes 3 times a week is nowhere near enough cardio work to lose weight if you're already somewhat fit. I expect to have to shower after a workout, but I never even broke a sweat with these DVDs. They just weren't long enough. If I put two of them back-to-back, they were OK. The problem is that each week of the cycle has a cardio DVD, a cardio + strength DVD, and a strength DVD. Most of the advice I've seen says you are not supposed to do strength training on the same body part two days in a row.

I cannot believe that one reviewer said that these workouts do not make him/her sweat! Even my knees sweat which I thought impossible. When I get done with one of the cardio workouts, my hair/scalp are drenched as well as the rest of my body. I guess these workouts might not be considered sufficiently challenging for a marathoner or a triathlete or a super-advanced exerciser. But I've been exercising for over 40 years and find these workouts challenging, especially the cardio. I really love the cardio the most. The cardio DVDs keep changing so fast that it's impossible to be bored and, before I know it, the workout is over. I do feel that I need to add a few traditional weightlifting moves -- heavier weights, slower speed -- as the sculpting and cardio/sculpting DVDs move quickly and are quite short (30 minutes). But then I've been lifting weights for about 30 years. Most people will probably find the sculpting more than adequate. According to the science I've read, this type of workout with short intervals of high intensity builds the best quality, most youthful muscle and promotes the production of human growth hormone -- can't ask for anything better than that! The workouts do move quickly, so it takes several times through to be able to follow each move correctly. However, if they slowed down, it would lengthen the workouts and, after a few tries, would become boring. So, give yourself a few times through to "get it" and you'll love it.
