Review

It's wonderful to have an easy-to-read yet well-researched book that demonstrates that a sound reading of Genesis chapter 1 demands a literal, six-day creation week. If you've ever asked yourself whether the first six creation days were real days, or whether it even matters, this book by pastor and educator Douglas Hamp is for you. --Ken Ham, Founder and President, Answers in Genesis and the Creation Museum

I recommend this work without reservation, and pray it has a long and fruitful ministry. It makes a real contribution to a pastor s library, and adds power to any Bible teacher s or student's message. The evangelical church badly needs it. --Dr. John Morris, President Institute for Creation Research

A powerful examination of the biblical, linguistic, historical and archaeological evidence affirming that the creation days of Genesis were nothing but real and literal days. If you think that God worked through evolution, read this book and be challenged. If you believe that God created in a literal six days, read this book and be strengthened. --Joseph Farah, Chief Executive Officer WorldNetDaily.com Inc.

The First Six Days is a great book!

The author, Doug Hamp, uses his in-depth knowledge of the Hebrew language to reinforce the accuracy of the Biblical account of Creation. There is no need to question what the Bible says. God said what He meant and meant what He said! There is no need for extra long days!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the Eveloution/Creation depate.

I am so glad that I came upon this book as it has not only educated me in the issues of creation and been an enjoyable reading, but it has really taken me deeper into the meaning of scripture in general and a greater understanding of what the Hebrew texts are really saying. I believe this book will richly bless anyone who loves the Word of God.

Two main points of this book are that the 6 days of creation were literal, and that humans lived along with dinosaurs. The author works from a strong knowledge of Hebrew which he uses as his springboard. The first point is backed up with strong biblical evidence. The second is interesting. Though I might not completely buy his thesis he does bring up some very good points and interesting information for example, soft dino-tissue found in fossil bones. Well worth the read. Mainly for Theists because the author takes the stance that the reader is a believer and then goes forward with biblical evidence for both points. A book I would suggest for a scientific rejection of Evolution is The Case For A Creator by Lee Strobel.

Hamp is an academic's academic, and an engaging writer. He sticks within his field of expertise. The issue that all creationists, to a writer, like to ignore is that the testimony of what we observe in creation is just as important as God's written testimony. If scientific observation (dear reader, please do not insert "evolution" here) is in tension with Holy Scripture, I say it's a tension we have to live with.
