This book is about a child with a physical difference who hopes to dispel looks and questions that prevent other children from getting to know him as a person not just someone with a difference. It stresses that we are all different and are still the same in many ways. Far too often children fail to learn how to handle these situations from the adults in their life. Sometimes we as adults need a reminder as well. There is something we all can learn from it

This is the best children's book out there! It has an amazing message about accepting differences that children of all ages need to hear. It was written by an amazing girl who speaks from true-to-life experience and is an amazing person. It teaches that everyone is special no matter how they look on the outside. BUY THIS BOOK!!!! IT WILL BE WORTH IT!!! Read it to your kids or yourself for a great insight on life.

What a great book and a wonderful story behind the book. My 6 and 3 year old daughters really enjoyed hearing the story and it was a great conversation starter...we were able to talk about how everyone is alike despite differences.

The First Day Speech was a great way to begin the year and accepting differences. The children were impressed that a peer had written it. The message was clear...acceptance of all! I shared this also with our guidance counselor and she has used with with her classes.
