I vaguely remember reading reviews for this product when I registered for it. In my pregnancy induced happy haze, I disregarded people's complaints about some of the item in the kit. I should have listened, so I ask you listen now. You are much better off buying items that you will need separately. It seemed like a good idea to just get this kit and cover all my bases. I'd never had a baby before, I figured that someone had figured out what I needed for me and put it in this kit. This is partially true.

In the first few months, you will need a digital thermometer, a bulb syringe/aspirator, nail clippers or file, and hair brush or comb. These are the things from the kit that I have used so far- my daughter is 9 months old. So, out of 17 items, I've used 5 or 6. The other 11-12 have not been touched.

Of the items, I've used, I didn't like most of them. The bulb syringe is impossible to squeeze and offers no suction- useless. The thermometer seems to take forever to take a reading, which is no good with a squirmy baby. The nail clipper have been okay, I still use it, but I bet there are better ones you can buy separately- I've been meaning to get some. I had to remove the plastic cover from the clippers in order to see baby's nails better- the first time I used them I cut my daughter's finger because I couldn't see them well.

I like the brush and comb. But I would like any brush and comb, I'm sure.

I've ended up buying a new thermometer (that I love) and a new aspirator (that I also love). Yes, you will probably spend more money buying items separately, but that is because the stuff that comes in this kit is cheaply made.

This is the worst kit of anything I have ever owned. The comb and hairbrush are the only items that aren't too cheaply made to work.

- The nasal bulb no suction what so ever.

- The scissors don't cut.

- The nail clippers are crap.

- The medicine measure isn't needed because, really, any medicine you purchase for your child comes with a measuring/dosage device.

- The cheap thermometer in mine is at least three degrees off and inconsistent (tested by taking my own temperature), if you can get it to work at all.

- The toothbrush is total crap and not made for babies.

I cannot emphasize how disappointed you will be if you purchase this or receive it as a gift.

Instead of buying this, purchase yourself a good thermometer, baby nail clippers and a decent nose-sucker (either the bulb type or fancy aspirator).

I know the title sounds dramatic, but it truly is all useless- and some dangerous! I put this item on my registry because I thought it was the perfect catch-all for me as a first-time expectant mom. I didn't know what I'd need so I loved the idea of a kit that came with everything. And signed off on by the American Red Cross? Even better.

Well, I use the brush.

The rattle is okay.

The nail clippers are extremely dangerous and I cut my daughter's finger quite badly. The way the clippers are constructed, the finger tip is obstructed from view. There are many reviews to this effect here on Amazon for the clippers.[...]

The aspirator doesn't work -it's way too hard to squeeze. Instead we use the one the hospital gave us.

The nail files are too weak to file properly.

I've never used anything else in there and my daughter is 6 1/2 months old.

Some of the items in this kit are great: soft baby toothbrush, medicine spoon, brush. Some are very outdated and hard to use: nail clippers, comb. The case is OK,but the items look cheaply made. There are better products on the market.

This kit does have a lot of useful items, but they are not high quality and don't all work properly. For instance, the nasal aspirator was nearly impossible to squeeze rendering it useless. The nail clippers got rusty after being exposed to boiling water.
The measuring spoon with the stopper was helpful in drop feeding my son for a couple of days.
Overall, I'd rather spend a bit more and buy higher quality items individually.

Honestly, I haven't even used all of the items, but of the ones I have used, not all of them were good quality. The nail clippers are fine, as are the comb, brush, and little trimmers. The aspirator is crap. You can't even squeeze it. I'm not sure what the purpose of the rattle is. If I wanted to distract my kid I would have something much more interesting- even a mirror would work better. You probably won't even need the two toothbrushes that are included- I got a training toothbrush and it's a lot better. Overall, I would say definitely order the pieces separately and make a gift basket that way.

People have many complaints about this product, but I have had a very different experience. The nasal syringe works very well, the droplet is fine, the brush and comb are perfect, the scissors are fine, the clippers are great, the thermometer does take a little time, admittedly, but we've had no problems, the finger brush is fine, the rattle isn't much use for our baby though since she likes to play in her little play set instead, and the nail files work just fine. All in all, a good product that I would recommend and even buy again if need be.
