5.0 out of 5 stars This game is just what I needed
I was pleasantly surprised when I received The Fitness Challenge. The quality of the pieces far exceeded my expectations. 1.0 out of 5 stars wat too costly for what you get
I am really surpised by all the five star reviews. This game is just keeping tabs on when you exercise and then having wager cards that basically are worthless for me and my sister who wanted to play the game. It was a waste of $[...]. A board to mark of the exercise days and two decks of wager cards that most people will find won't pertain to them (you feed the dog...

5.0 out of 5 stars This game is just what I needed, April 24, 2006
This review is from: The Fitness Challenge Board Game (Health and Beauty)
I was pleasantly surprised when I received The Fitness Challenge. The quality of the pieces far exceeded my expectations. The game came with a really nice scorecard and super strong magnets to hang it on a fridge (or hanging tabs for a wall or corkboard) The rules are very well written - catchy - and easy to understand. You start the game by signing a contract to signify your commitment to exercise for 8-weeks. There are two decks of wager cards that give fun ideas for all kinds of things to bet for. The wager cards are divided into different categories and can be played by couples, kids, relatives, co-workers and friends. They attach to the scorecard with well-made plastic clips. The game also comes with static cling "star points" that allow you to track your workouts. The nice thing is that the entire game is re-useable. The list of exercise choices includes just about any kind of activity you can think of, and the game specifies you how long you have to do each activity, depending on your fitness level. I really felt like having everything you need in the box takes all of the guesswork out of starting and completing an exercise program.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't believe how I actually exercised!, March 3, 2006
This review is from: The Fitness Challenge Board Game (Health and Beauty)
What a great product! I usually hate to exercise, so when my girlfriend called me and "challenged" me to an 8 week exercise contest with this "new board game", I wasn't sure I'd like it. But we had so much fun with it! I couldn't believe how much having a partner actually made me exercise. And it was such a motivator seeing the Scorecard on the fridge being filled out week by week. Plus, putting a "star" on the board every time I finished my workout made me feel a sense of accomplishment. The 8 weeks seemed to fly by and my friend and I really did exercise throughout the whole thing - and we had fun with the wagers too. This is such a neat idea. I've never found anything else out there quite like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Motivator!, February 10, 2007
This review is from: The Fitness Challenge Board Game (Health and Beauty)
This game is a great motivator and has definately motivated by wife and I to start exercising more since we don't want to lose and have to do chores. It has been a lot of fun. I love the fact that you get extra points on the 3rd time you exercise each week which really motivates you to exercise at least 3 times a week. The only thing I could think to improve on this game would be the ability to add more people and some "chore" cards that would be appropriate at work so that you could get a game started at the office. You could easily create your own board and cards using the same principals of this game however.

5.0 out of 5 stars I've played this 3 times now, December 18, 2006

If it wasn't for this game, I wouldn't exercise. The competition is what keeps me going. I play it for 8 weeks at a time and then get a new partner and play it again. I am finishing my 3rd round and I've actually exercised consistently for almost 6 months now. And the best part is I lost 23 pounds. I am taking a few weeks off through the holidays and have already picked a friend of mine to start the week of January 1.

Great idea!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best gift ever.., October 17, 2005
This review is from: The Fitness Challenge Board Game (Health and Beauty)
I received this as a gift from a co-worker last year. I had never heard of it, but she said she saw it on the news and thought it would be perfect for me. At the time I was desperately trying to loose some excess pounds from the birth of our first child.

With my friend as a partner we set out to get back in shape, but unexpectedly had a wonderful time doing it. We have played it 3 times now and it just gets more fun every time.

5.0 out of 5 stars husband is super runner and I'm super lazy..this worked for us both!, May 17, 2007
By
This review is from: The Fitness Challenge Board Game (Health and Beauty)
My husband is a running freak. He's one of those exercise zealots that tracks and times everything he does...while I prefer to sit on the sofa and "track" my online purchases and "time" my snacks. But after having a baby, I realized I had to do something to get off that baby weight. I read about this game in O magazine but was skeptical if it would work for us since I'm the only one that is exercise-challenged. I needed incentive. This game allows both the super-exerciser and the super-lazy to play each other, which is something really cool. I liked the incentives like massages and dinners out to nice restaurants. I was also motivated by Not wanting to wash his car or clean out the garage. He was incentivized by getting "Daddy's night out with the boys" and having poker night with his buddies at our house where I supply beer and snacks and then disappear. This game rocks. I'm in much better shape and my husband..well, he just keeping looking better and better!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great motivator!, January 3, 2006
This review is from: The Fitness Challenge Board Game (Health and Beauty)
I just got this game last month and just bought one for my sister. The competitive part of the game really keeps me exercising 3 days a week. I am half way through it and didn't gain any weight over the holidays. I love the fact that it is reusable. When I finish this challenge with my husband, I am going to play another 8 weeks with my friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get yourself back in shape and have fun doing it!, September 25, 2005

The Fitness Challenge is a great way to motivate you and your partner to get back in the habit of exercising. It's a real motivator when your grabbing for that tub of Ice Cream and see on the handy magnetic board that your partner is beating you this week on fitness points.

My wife and I were skeptical at first of this product (being the proud couch-potatos that we are) so we decided to try it for only 2 weeks. Needless to say, she won the bet and I upped the ante to the full 8 weeks. Now we'll see who wins this go around.

The game is a great gift for couples or competitive co-workers/friends. Good luck and remember even if you don't win the challenge, you still win!

5.0 out of 5 stars Let the Game Bigin!, March 8, 2007
This review is from: The Fitness Challenge Board Game (Health and Beauty)
I'm having so much fun with this 'board game.' My sister and I keep track of our workouts thus creating a real sense of friendly competition.

And when I take a look at the board and I see all the consistent work and effort I've been putting in, it just motivates me and challenges me to keep it up. I think it's a great way to look at excercise and fitness!

-A wannabe excerciser!
