As a long time "Fat Flusher" I always look forward to to Ann Louise Gittleman's new books. And Gut Flush is a winner! I really like the healthy, nutritious food in this plan. The recipes are easy and delicious! I have not missed NOT having foods with gluten as there are many OTHER delicious non gluten grains I can eat like quinoa, rice, millet and buckwheat. In fact by eliminating gluten and dairy my constant sinus congestion is GONE!

I highly recommend doing the stool test that Ann Louise recommends as it is a comprehensive test that will help you target exactly what colon corruptor track you will need to follow. Finding out that I have a yeast problem has helped me understand some of my symptoms like bloating, itchy skin, and sinus congestion. By following the protocols I have eliminated these problems altogether!

For those of you looking to 'get healthy' this is the program for you! Just by following the colon corruptor track that you have chosen you can eliminate yeast, parasites, super bugs and tame your food allergies!

This is a really good book for people who know a little about eating healthy already. Gittleman gives reasons for why she suggests certain supplments and removing gluten and coffee from your diet, but for the average person, there is not enough of an explanation. Most people have been coffee drinkers for a long time, and the typical American diet is food we can get at a supermarket. A lot of the menu requirements can NOT be bought at your local market. If I were going to make a few constructive comments about the book, I'd say that more information is needed for "incentive" to go seek out expensive alternatives at a health food store. Instead Gittleman focuses on germs. She contradicts herself in regards to antibiotic resistance as well. On one hand, she tells you not to overdo it with antibiotics, and on another, she has you bathing all your fruits and veg in bleach. Parasites and germs live in a normal gut synergistically. I understand why she stresses flushing because you have to heal the gut and get your intestinal flora back in balance. However, apple cider vinegar is a better bath for fruit and veg and doesn't leave a chlorine residue on food. It's all about balance. On a more positive note, the recipes are good and easy to follow and there is a wealth of information on how to get healthy for the lay person. The book should also stress "organic" meat and does not say so in the meal plans. Antibiotics in meat are also an issue to getting your gut rebalanced.

I have been a big ALG fan for a while, but this book takes it a little too far. A few things I noticed (I did not read from cover to cover)

--This book seems to almost require purchase of her products, which was not necessary to follow her plans in previous books. So I find that annoying. Buy my book and then my products.
--She is really moving to germaphobe land in my opinion. I can understand skipping the salad bar to avoid bacteria and stuff, but she seems to question having pets. She does not say get rid of your animals, restrict your contact, you get the idea. Really drifting toward living in a bubble.

I guess if you are really sick and not digesting food well this might be the book for you. But if you are just looking to feel and be more healthy and/or lose some weight, try the Fat Flush Plan and/or the Detox. I know when I do the original Fat Flush I feel great physically, emotionally, my skin clears, etc. However, this book just goes too far for my lifestyle to be actually doable.

I have been following the Fat Flush Plan for the last 4 years, it has changed my life! I am almost 60 years old now and feel better than I did in my 40's!!! I lost an incredible 55 lbs. in the first few months and have been able to keep it off! Thank you Ann Louise!

I am more hopeful than ever for my long-term health after doing the Gut Flush program. I was very blessed to be a part of a focus group for this book, and I learned so much.
For various medical reasons, I have been on many, many rounds of antibiotics for the majority of my life. I had no idea that this had wreaked such havoc with my digestion as it has. I also never knew how deficient I was in HLC (stomach acid) and also digestive enzymes. Through Gut Flush, I have been able to pin point the problems I have with my digestion, and have implemented a workable strategy for life-long health.
This book is chock-full of great, usable information. The guidelines in the book are easy to follow. The recipes in the book are tasty. I am so grateful to have this book and such hope for my future health. I highly recommend it to anyone who has any variety of digestive problems, or to anyone who just wants to be healthier overall.
