It's evident that they have matured as songwriters and musical performers and were pushed by the album's producers to levels that stretched them to the fullest!
Daniel Chornomaz
Heard one of their songs on Longmire and had to have this album.

Despite the fresh faced look of the kids on the album cover, The Vespers have, at a very young aged, already carved out a pretty impressive career for themselves and hope to embellish their accomplishments with the release of the band's second self-released record, The Fourth Wall. The band is made up of two sets of siblings, the Jones brothers Taylor and Bruno, (20 and 22) and the Cryars, Phoebe and Callie (19 and 21). The band''s relative youth is offset by the fact that the sisters have several years of experience doing back-up vocals on many music row sessions, having followed their father, Morgan Cryar into the studio before hitting their teens. They met Bruno and Taylor at a campfire jam, clicked immediately and never looked back. All four of the members are accomplished multi-instrumentalists and are already songwriters of remarkable poise and depth. Despite working, largely, in the mainstream indie circuit, the band is very open about their Christian faith in their lyrics, but often in a very relate-able way that values honest experience over propaganda. Because they are especially versed in roots music like Bluegrass and folk, the spiritual themes appear in their music very organically. "Lawdy" begins as a sparsely strummed folk ballad before evolving into a blues inflected spiritual, somewhat reminiscent of the foreboding quality of Johnny Cash's "God's Gonna Cut you Down" a conscious effort on Callie's part. Elsewhere, Appalachian folk melds with infectious melody to produce ridiculously winsome material like "Flower, Flower" a very "pop" effort with very practical lyrics or the infectious, "Jolly Robber" which utilizes vibes to dizzying effect.Read more ›

This album is quickly becoming my favorite of the year. I gave it a shot on spotify and haven't stopped listening to it since. Although all of the songs are unique I specifically like "Better now" which was an unconventional opening song but sets the tone with a mid-tempo whimsy. "Flower flower" is the charming following song that ups the tempo and set's the toes tappin'. Other high lights include "Close your eyes", "Jolly robber", and "Grinnin' in your face" which is probably the most aggressive on the cd. If you enjoyed the O brother where art thou? soundtrack and the more recently released Hunger Games soundtrack you will find much to enjoy here. Female fronted with intricate harmonies and catchy melodies. Only gets better with repeat listens!

This cd is highly recommended for fans of Eisley, Dixie Chicks, Mumford & Sons, Of Monsters & Men, and The Civil Wars.

I'm not as eloquent as the other reviewers but suffice it to say that I just can't get enough of this band. Their lyrics and music are absolutely beautiful. You will NOT be disappointed in The Vespers!

This talented foursome has taken their music to a new level with this wonderful sophomore release. It's evident that they have matured as songwriters and musical performers and were pushed by the album's producers to levels that stretched them to the fullest!
There is not a weak song among the dozen we are treated to. Standout songs include "Daughter", "Footprints in the Snow", and "Better Now". The sisterly harmonies are angelic and all four members show off their considerable instrumental abilities.
It's hard to categorize their music to one genre ,as there are hints of reggae, bluegrass, pop, folk, gospel, and country in the 12 tracks.
What's easy to categorize is the ability of The Vespers to take you on an emotional journey with each song, with unexpected twists and turns on the ride.
Grab this and it will end up in heavy rotation on your personal playlist!

It'll make your soul smile, it surely did when I received my autographed double vinyl record yesterday. The grinnin in your face track gave me chills. Every track is equally as powerful to say the least, hop on over to soundcloud, Bruno Jones of The Vespers has made the album available for a full sampling. A definite must have in the collection! They're on the verge of breaking through...so says The Huffington Post. Exciting Times for This Lovely Four of a Kind.

I was looking for a great Christian folksy band! This is probably one of my new favorite artists. They are extremely talented, they aren't cheesy and they know how to worship God with their talents. Even if you aren't Christian, you can enjoy this album, however. Note that the lowest reviews had nothing to say, except that the band is Christian and talented. There is a reason for that.

This band has two great singers and the music is very soulful. The Best song is "will you love me", definitely should be a hit at some point.
