5.0 out of 5 stars Minimal music replacements. Well done, CBS. November 9, 2010
CBS appears to have made a real effort to get the music right this time.

As usual, the video is excellent. Colors are realistic without being oversaturated.

Have the episodes been remastered from the original negatives? I just don't know. The picture is sharp, but not as sensationally sharp as Season One. This is not attributable to color versus black & white, since other color shows of the same era have been remastered to spectacular sharpness, e.g., THE TIME TUNNEL. I'd give S4V1 a rating of 9.8 out of 10 for sharpness.

I have not heard one single note of the dreaded Heyes replacement music. That doesn't mean that there aren't any replaced cues, just that CBS has done a much better job of blending the replacements.

I'm suspicious that some of the cues that I heard were indeed replacements, but they were so well blended that they could easily have been mistaken for original cues. I won't know for sure until I can compare side-by-side with original broadcast recordings. And anyway, most of the replaced cues are incidental music -- radios, jukeboxes, and background music in bars & restaurants.

One oddity is a line of replaced dialogue in THE SHARP EDGE OF CHIVALRY. At time index 37:59, Kimble hears a voice coming from the other side of a closed door -- a policeman's voice saying, "IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK LIKE HE GOT AWAY."

But in the original episode, the voice is that of Lieutenant Gerard, asking, "THERE'S NO OTHER WAY OUT?", followed by Richard Anderson's character replying, "NO."

Will CBS please tell us WHY it was necessary to alter this one bit of dialogue?

CBS heard fan complaints of no subtitles on previous volumes, and has included English subtitles for the hearing impaired on these dvds.

5.0 out of 5 stars NEXT -- "THE FUGITIVE" -- IN COLOR! November 14, 2010
Verified Purchase
After three seasons in black-and-white, it's now time to watch Dr. Richard Kimble (David Janssen) run for his life in full living color, with the arrival of "THE FUGITIVE: THE FOURTH AND FINAL SEASON, VOLUME ONE", a 4-Disc DVD set released by CBS/Paramount on November 2, 2010.

And while I think it's definitely true that the episodes in the fourth and final year of the series are generally not as high in quality (script-wise) when compared to the three previous black-and-white seasons, there are still several very good shows to be found in the last year of the series, including some worthy cat-and-mouse encounters between Kimble and the one-armed man (whom we see a lot more of during season four).

"The Evil Men Do" is my favorite episode in this DVD collection, with guest star James Daly doing everything he can to help out Richard Kimble by attempting to kill Dr. Kimble's pursuer, Indiana Police Lieutenant Philip Gerard. Kimble must then decide what his priorities are: his own freedom or Gerard's life? Some tense moments are in order in Act IV.

These 15 episodes appear to be complete and uncut (about 51 minutes per show), and the color video looks very sharp and clear. In some of the episodes, there is some dirt visible during the title sequences, which I've noticed is a common occurrence on a lot of DVDs.

For some reason, the credit portions of some TV shows and movies on DVD haven't been cleaned up to remove all of the dirt and speckles. Such is the case with some of the title and credit segments in this "Fugitive" set.

But I'd say that CBS/Paramount, overall, did a really nice job with these DVD transfers. The colors look very true and accurate, and the mono audio sounds nice and full and clean too.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Perfect Volume 1 of the 4th Season November 18, 2010
By Ralph
Verified Purchase
After receiving my Season 4 Vol 1 Episodes in color, I have watched every episode and I am glad to tell you that these DVD's are perfect in every way, including sound, picture clarity, the intense color and no break down in the pictures at all. Even though I waited a few months until this Season 4 Vol 1 came out, it was worth it. Even the piece about the music composer at the end was very interesting. I am looking forward to get the last volume and hope it will be as great as this one. Thanks so much!! You have one Happy "Fuggee"!! Ralph from Collingdale, PA

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally They Got It Right November 18, 2010
By J.C.L
I finished watching just a few days ago my copy of Season 4 volume 1 .... I can only state what the others have said about this set of DVDs .... I think that the video and sound are outstanding .... The series going color to me kind of takes away from it's nestalgia (kind of the same way it did to the Andy Griffith show), but hey thats just me .... Im glad that the music seems mostly intact and that the studio did right for it's fans of this series .... The package is done well with the synopsis of each episode on inner liner .... The DVDs are in a 4 disc tray in the middle so you can read each episode without removing a DVD to do so .... All in all this was worth the wait and the money spent to buy them .... Here's hoping that Volume 2 is the same quality and comes in timely manner .... Thanks CBS/Paramount for not letting us down .... I just saw on TVSHOWSONDVD.COM that the second part of season 4 will be released on 2/15/11 .... I just hope that like the first set of season 4 that most if not all of the music is intact .....

3.0 out of 5 stars Loved this series when I was in my early teens
But, now that I'm watching these DVD's I bought, I'm pretty disappointed. I realize that the only reason I watched was to see if Kimble ever caught up with the one-armed man. Read more

4th and final season
Yeah, I remember this final season because it was in COLOR. As a kid we had just received a Quasar color set and we would only watch shows in color, And The Fugitive, season four was in color. It also had a great two part finale!
