5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent sound improvements January 8, 2010
Format:Audio CD
I bought this on a whim to see how improved the sound is compared to the original CD versions that I own. A remarkable improvement in the transparency and crispness of the songs. Well worth hearing. As far as cashing in - come on - no one is forcing anyone to buy this CD, but I am glad that these kind of sonic improvements can be made. The End is cut to fit CD running time - consider it a bonus! 79 minutes of The Doors in vastly improved sound at mid-price rates 5 stars from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Mix July 22, 2008
Format:MP3 Music
The mix and improved sound of these classics is incredible. The sound is so crisp that you here the guitar pick hitting the strings of the guitar. The rocker "Roadhouse Blues" mix sends new chills up the spine. Get it!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Unessential January 30, 2008
Format:Audio CD
Oh, goodie, yet another repackaging of a repackaging. Just how many times are the powers-that-be going to trot out yet another collection of Doors music anyway??? At least the fact "The End" is an edited version means this one's an absolute NOT buy.

For the uninitiated, get the latest remastered 2-disc collection. For the initiated, well, we already own all the remasters anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's all here..... January 16, 2012

Format:MP3 Music
Although I have known the doors music throughout my Life, I have never purchased any Doors CD's, or any of their music before this CD...I recently started watching any footage of them I could find on the internet, and listening to their music like crazy. I never knew the story behind the band, or about Jim's death and now I am quite obsessed with them!!!! I thought this CD was a good place to start, though I wish" Five to One" was on it-then it would be complete. I will probably end up purchasing more of their music, but this is a great starting point and the sound is great.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just buy the The Very Best Of The Doors November 22, 2011
Format:Audio CD
I enjoy compilations of the Doors as much as the next person, but this is basically The Very Best Of The Doors scaled down to just one CD with even an edit of The End. Why? I have no idea. You never ever edit The End! Just buy the 2-CD set that hilights the Doors' best which features the new 40 anniversary mixes which sound absolutely fabulous. And I'm glad they featured The Ghost Song as well. That works good side by side with The Doors Legacy - The Absolute Best. Those are the ones to get, but this scaled back version just doesn't cut it.

5.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable collection of greatest hits February 12, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I ordered this album on November 4th 2010 and recieved it through the mail on November 8th and let me just say it's a pleasure to listen to.I love every song and my personal favorites are #s 1-3,7,8,10,11,14,15,16,and 18.Each song strengthens me with positiveness and uniqueness. When i first got this record on November 8 i listened to it right away and fell in love with it. Owning a greatest hits cd by a rock group from the 60's is a very proud and rewarding feeling. Jim Morrison sounded and looked very erotic in additon stood out as well as the group in a phenomenal way. Well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars great sound October 19, 2009
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I guess I dont "love" the doors or I would get the 5.1 surround Perceptions- to many bad songs on thier albums- but I first heard weird scenes inside the goldmine in germany when I was in 7th grade (71-72?) which is essentially the doors greatest hits- it sounds good- but this sounds better- problem is they dont have 2 of the best doors songs When the musics over and the end. yes the end is listed but its not really the end- to bad because the first 4 minuetes of it sounds great- the real song is about 11 min. long. anyway this disc sounds great. For me its worth haveing both this and greatest hits u.s version because this disc is Long and greatest hits is two shorter discs.I can recomend this it sounds great- but it really cant be essential without "When the musics over" or the whole song of "The end" they should have left off a few of the shorter songs and included those 11 min. gems. edit+EDITT=EEDDDIIITTT: I just got the very best of the doors - 2 cd 1 dvd and its the same remaster as this w/ twice the songs (the end and when the mussics over on the same disc) at about the same price you should get that if you can. IT ALSO HAS THE SAME cover photo.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible Remixes
B-E-W-A-R-E because a LOT of the songs on this album have been remixed and/or have repetitive over-dubbing of Morrison's voice or added sound/vocal tracks. Read more

I like this compilation. Some tracks have been edited but, I think it's an improvement rather than a disappointment. Great sound quality! I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

As someone who grew up in the 60s and 70s I am still amazed at how good a band the Doors were.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not genuine
I bought the song "The End" and it turned out to be some kind of mashup that is not the song by the same name by the Doors. Don't buy this if you want genuine songs by the Doors.
