It's a fun family game!

I love how amazing technology has made my favorite games - first there was the actual board game, then the Nintendo Wii version, and now the iPad incorporated version.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This just came in today and I couldn't wait to play it! The app was easy to download and easy to use. I played against my 5 year old son. He didn't have any problems with how to play. He even caught me making a few mistakes! He understood the choices at each STOP space. He picked up really quickly how to look at the space to see if you're supposed to touch something on the app for video content. I'm not at all ashamed to say he soundly beat me.

I like that there are videos from AFV, but was a bit concerned that two we watched had words bleeped out. I was also concerned that you are allowed to have same gender partners at the "Get Married" space. (This is not personal politics, just something about which my son isn't aware and we're not really ready to explain it yet.) I thought it was interesting that a boy with a brother chose to have two daughters when given the choice!

I really like that the app doesn't allow wimpy spins. My son tried to make it spin a 10 once and it didn't allow it!

All in all, we had a lot of fun and I've already told my husband we're playing when the boys go to bed!

As I was putting my son to bed, I asked him if he had fun and he said, "yes, momma. Can we play again tomorrow?" I think we will.

After the boys went to bed, I played with my husband. It only took us 20 minutes to play, but we laughed through it all. The AFV clips were all different and were pretty funny actually. It caught him trying to make the wimpy spins too and we laughed at his feeble attempts to see how little he could get by with each time. This time we each landed on the "Lawsuit" spaces and we literally watched one of the videos for one of them at least 5 times.

UPDATE: We are still playing the game regularly at the beginning of March.

This is a cool game, but i wish the money was managed on the iPad, like it is in Monopoly zapped.Other things could be managed on the iPad too, like the houses, children, etc. I like everything else about it!

The iPad add helps make gameplay a bit easier in terms of the turns after getting used to it, especially with younger children (5 year old) but the videos get a bit tiring as they cannot be skipped. Good implementation of physical to digital bridging. The App is free, but is a large file (probably due to the America's Funniest Videos)

It's a great idea to "reinvent" these old board and money games with an app that handles the bookkeeping for you. Interestingly we had just played Life with our grand daughter about a week before I saw this offered on Vine. The game is simple, and there is very little skill in your decision making. For the most part it is just the luck of the roll. Whoever lands on the best net money spaces is the overwhelming favorite to win the game.

This version saves some time and headaches in handling the cash. However, a lot of the charm of the original game is sacrificed. I haven't counted but the road to the end seems shorter. Gone are the cool little plastic buildings that you "drove" past on your journey through Life. The game board is also considerably smaller.

Overall, I don't think the cons outweigh the pros though. The app definitely revives this game for the 'video generation' crowd. For us, it does have the advantage of not being the almost 40 year old game box and board I drug out a few weeks ago along with a lot of dust and the possible hint of mildew. LOL

I did not get to choose my house or draw from the stack of career cards.
I loved doing those.

The game includes video features which are ok, but not the greatest.

I would rather have the original LIFE than this, but that is just my opinion.

This game is still fun and at only $10 isn't that bad.

YOU MUST HAVE AN IPAD! So do not buy this if you do not have one.

It is amazing to see technology take over simple things from my childhood and "The Game of Life for iPad" is no exception. It is pretty cool to incorporate the idea of a classic boardgame with an iPad so even your jaded children and teenagers may take an interest to play with you. My seven year old found playing this to be fun and the app works well. Life is a great game for familes to play because it gets the discussion going about what kind of path your kids may want to take. College? A job? Wives and children? It is all here and this game is not too expensive compared to what you would pay for any video game for a leading game system.

I thought this would be fun to re-engage the preteens in the household who spend so much time on screens, but I was wrong. It took a fun game that was people interacting with people and replaced it with people interacting with an iPad. So perhaps it is fun, but it is just another iPad game and not a family game. My kids spend enough time watching videos and they don't need another excuse.

My kids are wild about the ipad, and are pretty wild about board games as well...so putting the two together should be a snap right? Right. This game seeks to do exactly that, incorporating the ipad into the center of the game board. It adds a little pizzaz and excitement to the game for the kids. From my perspective, I don't think that it adds much to the game, but the electronics kept my kids interested long enough that we could let the ipad sort of "fade" into the background and just become part of the game. I think that that marks this as a successful meld. Educational value? Not really. The "America's Funniest Home Videos"? Yea....I'm not sure that that adds much to the original game. But we did spend a good hour laughing and playing together as a family, and that is not to be sneezed at. My kids are 5,6, and 7, and it was a little tough for my 5 year old to play for long, just so folks have an idea. But life always was for older kids anyway. So will we play again? Yea, we will. The kids have asked for it several times, so it will make its way into our rotation of games.
