Even though this book is rated for ages 4-8, I think it is fun for all ages. I bought it for my son when he was just over 1 year old, and we love it. It is so much fun!

We read it before naptime with a flashlight to make shapes on the ceiling or wall. You just need to make sure to use a flashlight with one bulb that shines light consistently in all directions (ie no old-style flashlights that have a halo-like effect) to get the clearest images on the wall. I use a single-LED keychain flashlight.

My son also likes to put his fingers through the holes and trace the edges of the shapes.

Our almost 2 year old child enjoys looking at the shadows on the ceiling. This book is sturdy, has different holes in the shape of stars, sun, flowers, fish, smiley faces. It does not have much text or a story, just a short sentence of a few words describing the picture on the page. So you have to use your imagination if you want the informative part:) Overall it's a great book, our kid enjoys holding the flashlight while mom/dad are turning pages. Then we both enjoy the shadow of stars, etc while lying on the bed:)

My son loves this book. You use a flashlight to shine though the cut outs on each page making shadows on the wall and ceiling. Wonderful to do at bedtime. We love all the author's books. He is so inventive. I also highly recommend "Press Here." Press Here. It's one of the most brilliant children's books I've seen.

This book seems like a great idea, but I found it pretty awkward. To get the pictures to show up well on the wall/ceiling, you need about 3 hands: one to hold the flashlight, one to hold the page you're trying to display, and one to hold the rest of the book out of the way so it doesn't block the images. My child is only 2, so maybe when she's a bit older, she can help a little more.

It's alright but nothing like his other books. This was the fourth of his books we've bought. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED "Help We Need a Title", "Press Here" and "Mix It Up" but really felt that this one was a waste of money. I thought the pages would build on each other to create different pictures with the flashlight but they don't they just shine the individuals holes of each page. :(

Every night my 20 month old twins want this book read to them. So we play the game of lights and make shapes appear on the ceiling while they lie down and watch. Now they even try do the projecting themselves. A great book for the bedtime ritual

this is a cool book to read at night though trying to use the flashlight and seeing all of the cut outs are very hard to maneuver.
