Being born and raised in Sovjet Union, the country amazing and huge but not known much for freedom of speech and human rights,I was delighted to see the difference here in the United States. On the bookshelf of Barnes and Noble bookstore was hilarious ,I as thought , creation called The George W. Bush Voodoo kit: stick it to him like he's been sticking it to you ! I saw in the title the combination of free speech rights and whimzical sense of humor.Hey ,I though ,let's buy it immidiately, bring it to work and amuze my fun-loving collegues ! So I did, which happened right after Mr.Obama won his first election .

That morning ,almost immidiately ,I was apporoached by one concerned individual and older collegue of mine ,who quiely informed me that I need to be careful bringing things like that because somebody might REPORT me .Ah,I though ,the public school.Oh well ,from seasoned educator to a newbee,I listened to my advisor and put this book /kit away in a manner that no more of fun-loving collegues of mine would see it . With my intentions to show the book to teachers and staff only, and never to our students ,being warned on a spot that I was doing something wrong only emphasized the feeling of "may be it is not such a good thing to bring to school ,I am not sure why exactly ".

After a year or so I was in a principle's office first thing in the morning ,staring at the same well-meant collegue of mine, now shivering in her chair and sobbing ,because, she explained, she has these horrible memories from when I brought VOODOO thing to school, and she got so traumatized by it - being raised in Malaisia where ,sha said ,Voodoo is just everywhere( ??? ). Angry Principal asked me why would I ever bring something like that to work ?
