A simplistic book that paints Washington as a true hero without flaws. I had to purchase this book after my son lost his school copy. As an adult I got a kick out of some of the writing, especially one part (I'm paraphrasing) that mentions Washington didn't really like punishing soldiers who didn't obey orders, but in the next sentence states that occasionally he had them executed! The book seems to go out of its way to put Washington up on the highest pedestal so the young reader will be in awe. Believe me, from what I know, George Washington was a great man and president but everyone has their flaws. It is written for a kid and is a good read for that age group. Curious to see if anyone else will get a chuckle from reading through it.
