On a recent trip to Charleston I took the walking tour based on this book. The tour was great but the book is better by a mile. Even while standing just outside or in some of the haunted areas mentioned in this fine book one didn't get a feel for the story like you get while reading these stories. All of the hauntings are documented and have been seen by several people adding to the credibility of this work. Everyone who has ever been taken by the beauty and charm of this wonderful old city has to read this book. If you have never been to Charleston read this book and you will want to go there.

Buxton and Macy were able to capture the essence of Charleston in their new book. I had heard a few of the stories before on their tour, but the book has transcended anythinjg previously covered on the subject of ghosts in Charleston. The book is very well written, and flows nicely from story to story. The photos compliment the stories very well, without becoming a distraction. The story about Fire Station #8 kept me up all night. Excellent book!

I live in Charleston, and I've been on many of the ghost tours, even the author of this book's tour, and this book really brings the stories to life. The stories are very well written, and are very interesting. I didn't believe in ghosts before I read this book, but now I believe in them. I hope they make a sequal to this book with even more ghost stories, because I wouldn't think before buying it. I hope I can meet the authors of this book, because they sound like very interesting people. This book is definitly a paragon of excellence!!!

I live only 2 hours away from Charleston, SC and my family and I visit the city quite often, especially during the summer. I am a believer in paranormal phenomenon and have personally experienced many things that I have never been able to justify with a rational explanation. During my many visits to Charleston I have been pretty disappointed that I never encountered anything paranormal especially since Charleston is purported to be one of the most haunted cities in the United States. I have taken several of the city's ghost walk tours and have dined in "Poogan's Porch" restaurant on a few occasions (purported to be haunted and one of the stories in the book by the way) but have never so much as had an inkling for the paranormal in the "Holy City." I will admit that there are many creepy old mansions and areas of the city that are pretty spooky, but haunted, who can say for sure? The book itself is very entertaining and I believe the authors did a great deal of research and put much of their own personal interest into it. The history behind the hauntings is interesting as well as the stories of the ghosts themselves. If you like ghost stories, you'll enjoy the book. I don't think anyone can make any real claims as to the authenticity of these hauntings, but nevertheless, the book is very entertaining and a great read. I highly recommend it!

I think that this is one of the best books on the Ghosts of Charleston. I live in the city, and I have not seen any book that even comes CLOSE!

Buxton and Macy give a thrilling written account of their "Ghosts of Charleston" tour.

While they do relay many of Charleston's most famous ghost stories, they also reveal the hidden history of the supernatural events.

From the grotesque floating torso to the frivolous Gentleman's Ghost, the Ghost's of Charleston takes you back to an earlier and in most cases tragic time in the history of the Holy City.

Read the book and then go take the tour or vice versa, you will not be disappointed.

As a Charleston native I grew up listening to many of the stories mentioned in this book. Unfortunately, over time, I've forgotten many of them until revisiting them again in this book. This book represents a marvelous collection of ghost stories that will delight anyone interested in ghost stories or, in particular, Charleston's haunted history. I found them so enjoyable that I read the book in one sitting!
