I should start by saying that initially I had no intention of writing an online review of this album, but I must say that I feel that the reviews I read of this album hardly do it justice. "The Glass Intact" is musically tight, combining excellent punk-rock songwriting with an incredible pop-but-not-too-pop sensibility. At times the album is beautiful, and at times it makes you want to turn it up to 11 and jump around like an idiot. The lyrics exhibit confidence and vulnerability, wit and insight. This is, without a doubt, one of the best albums I own, and I would recommend it to anyone.

words cannot describe the excellence of this album. I bought The Glass Intact shortly after it was released in 99 after following a link on a veruca salt page. Since then, I have bought 12 copies of this album because they keep getting scratched or stolen and it is worth every cent. Multi-layered rock driven guitar, heavy bass, and phenomenal drums, topped off with Elizabeth Elmore's amazing vocals. The lyrics are straight from the heart and every second of the album is full of emotion. From begining to end, there is not a single song that is out of place. This is the best cd I have ever bought or listened to. I also strongly recommend Elizabeth Elmore's new band, The Reputation. They have a cd out now that is just as amazing as The Glass Intact.

Sarge reigns in the royalty of Girl Rock,

I've loved this CD ever since we got it at my college radio station... Sarge definitely knows how to rock! At the same time, the band shows good range so each song doesn't sound the same. I especially love the lyrics, which express a spectrum of raw emotion and real-life issues, from a girl's revenge for getting gang-raped to thoughts on "how far is too far?". The vocals are never overpowered by the music (which says a lot because the music is definitely kickass).

I just saw Sarge live a couple of weeks ago in Savannah, Georgia. To say I was blown away would be an understatement. The only thing greater than owning and listening to this album is having seen them live in a small venue AND buying my copy directly from Elizabeth Illmore herself!! If you get a chance to see them, GO. If you can't, buy the album here! You'll fall in love with the catchy-riffs and the vocals. I can't say enough! Be sure to check out Track 3, Beguiling, it's my personal favorite.

I got a chance to see this band perform live at LA's Spaceland. Though I only caught the last three songs of the set, I was hooked and bought the CD immediately. Elizabeth Elmore has a vocal delivery that is breathlessly lilting and the band has a really good groove that doesn't let up throughout the whole album. An absolutely wonderful pop album that ranks up there with the best of them.

when i first heard Sarge's debut record "charredcool" i was mystified by Elizabeth Illmore's deep lyrics. for example on "dear joesie" she talks about the end of the cold war and how it has affected her struggle to find the will to survive in our society. woah heavey. any way Illmore does survive in her followup the Class Intact in this album she enlightens the listeners on the struggle of the working class in America. She still got it, amazing lyrics and a sexy bod. peace out.
