I found this book very "nuts & bolts" on describing the benefits of being gluten free--that is the "why?".

I can't count how many times I have heard the buzz phrase, "gluten-free" over the last few months. Like so many Americans, I have struggled with my weight. On my 40th birthday, I decided that I needed to do something about my weight once and for all. I've tried many different weight loss avenues in my life, but never the gluten-free method that I've heard so much about. After searching through the available literature, I took a leap of faith and purchased this book.

I must say that after the first two weeks on the diet, I am pleasantly surprised. Yes, the pounds have started to come off, but I have also noticed things that I didn't expect. I'm sleeping better, thinking more clearly, and just generally feeling much better. I really think this might be the long term solution I've been looking for.

Now, the problems with the diet. Finding gluten free products isn't as easy as I first imagined. Yes, a lot of people are talking about it, but the availability has yet to catch up to the buzz. I have started ordering certain products online and those just started to arrive a few days ago. So, I might have found a solution, but be aware that this may be a problem. I also thought the before and after pictures needed work (not nearly as inspirational as the stories).

For these reasons, I have given the book 4 stars. However, the plan and the results are just short of amazing, so maybe I'm just nitpicking.

I found this book very "nuts & bolts" on describing the benefits of being gluten free--that is the "why?". The author successfully outlines what gluten is, the impact it has and very practical steps to having a gluten-free diet on a sustainable basis--i.e., one that I can have for the long-term, not just a quick weight loss program. Thanks!

I've heard so much lately about people going on gluten free diets that I wanted to read this book to see what gluten was all about and why/when it should be elliminated from a diet.

There are four parts to the book:
1) The Connection Between Gluten and Fat Loss
2) Your Gluten Free Fat Loss Meal Plans & Workout Programs
3) Recipes
4) Appendices, Resources, References

I found this book to be very informative and easy to follow. The author is very clear about what to eat and when to eat it, what exercises to do for each day and how long to do them, and even gives you charts, pictures and logs to copy so you can write down what you're doing and your progress. There's even a question and answer section.

I don't have a problem with gluten as far as I know, but I think anyone could do this fat loss plan. I don't do as well on my on as I do with a scheduled plan that tells me what do do and when to do it, what to eat and when to eat it, so this looks perfect for me. I don't think this book left anything out.

It looks very easy to use, and if I can find most of the the ingredients needed to do the meal plans, I'll give it a try. I may have a problem with some of the gluten free items since I live in a small town. But, I assume if you live in a bigger city you would be able to find them all.

Overall, I think this book is great! I would recommend to anyone who feels they need to get in better shape.

Allison's plan, as outlined in this book, is scientifically sound, with no gimmicks or extras. It's basically the diet advice we've been hearing for years: eat lots of veggies, lean proteins, and limit empty calories. As such, it can work to make everyone healthier. Plus, her exercise routine is both easy to follow and comprehensive. The real gem in this book are her recipes and meals plans - her meals are delicious and really take the stress out of meal planning and preparation. Highly recommend!

Wow, 7 lbs lost in 3 weeks without starvation. I haven't been following the diet exactly but eating those items on her lists and totally avoiding those items she listed. I'm feeling so much better now. I cannot see myself ever going back to all those processed foods. My teenage daughter is also reading the book and is amazed at how bad some foods really are.
