One to keep on the shelf!,

This review is from: Wild Angel (Paperback)
I very much enjoyed reading Triona and Ronan's story. The tension between the characters throughout the book was understandable and warrants you to just jump in the book and shake some sense into the characters!6-month old Triona was found in the arms of her dead Norman mother in the middle of the forest.(sniffles)Fineen O'Toole finds her and adopts her as his own daughter knowing that a Norman clan wants her dead. She grew to adore her brother Conor and his friend Ronan O'Byrne, until she finds that her godbrother, knowns now as Black O'Byrne, was the cause of Conor's death! She grows to detest Ronan even more when she finds that her father made Ronan her guardian! Ronan O'Byrne was the godson of Fineen. He remembers seeing Triona as a lovable 8 summers old little girl with beautiful green eyes. Fineen, in his deathbed, makes Ronan vow to become Triona's guardian. To appease Fineen Ronan vows to him that he will take Triona. He thought he was going to find a docile young woman that would do his bidding.(yea right) He didn't know that Triona grew to be a wild hellion bent on defying him at every turn with skills that would match any of his clansmen. With life changing secrets and heart-wrenching guilt holding both Ronan and Triona captive, their love is slow to bloom. It was captivating to watch the two begin to trust eachother and watch the love that was always there bloom to its fullest. Triona's wild defiance and Ronan's stubborn insensitivity threaten to keep them apart and also the secrets from their past. An enticing novel with deep feelings and thoughts, vulnerabilities and misunderstandings. I'm looking forward to reading another novel by Minger. I know I will be reading "Wild Angel" again.

excellent "old school" irish romance....,
This review is from: Wild Angel (Paperback)
If you love dark "alpha male" Irish rebels, fiesty and head strong red headed warrior lasses and high adventure, drama and lots of sensuous love scenes then you'll love this romance.
Written in 94-it's very old school romance with secrets, scandal, a on going clash between warring families and an adventuresome happy ending. Almost perfect except for a bit too much willfullness by the heroine-but she does learn the error of her ways before the books end. Very Catherine Coulter or Johanna Lindsey like. I highly recommend it. 4.5 stars!

I like the whole plot of the story. When I first started to read it, I loved Triona's character. I dont like submissive heroines. But after getting to know Triona, I found her to be a thoughtless, ill mannered Shrew. Basically, every sentence that comes out of her mouth is an insult or rudness. I think Miriam Minger, took too long to soften Triona into a likable character.
Plus, I did not find it realistic that the word "ninny" was being used. I could be wrong, but I dont thing the slang word ninny was in the vocabulary in the 1200's. I dont think "sweeting" was used as an endearment in the 1200's either. Although, I am going to make it a mission to do some research on these two words in those days. I loved Ronan's, strong & silent character. Very masculine. Very Romantic. This is what romance novel heros are made off. Having said that, I found him annoying when dealing with Triona. Triona, accuses Ronan of "murdering" her brother Conor. Which is understandable. But She says, Ronan deliberately endagered his men because of his overwhelming desire for vengeance against the Normans. His hotheadedness and recklessness is what got her brother killed. He knew the Norman Manor was heavily gaurded but he still went ahead with his raid. I found it very contradictory on Miriam Minger's part to have come up with that accusation in the story, while She has Triona wanting to and doing, just that, to revenge her father's death. There are other contradictory and unreasonable, accusations, where it is ok for Triona but not Ronan. Over all, if you get over all this, it is a good read. But I think the story has been stretched toooo long. If this was made into a movie, it would be a three hour movie. After awhile, i just wanted it to end.

I love stories set in this time period. My only complaint is that Ms. Minger seems to abruptly end her stories (I have read 3 so far). I'd like them to last a little longer! I especially loved the characters in this book.

I can not believe the bargain we get with Miriam's books!! This was another great story with wonderful characters.
I do wish both the characters had talked through their issues instead of each assuming what the other was thinking or feeling or what their attentions were but I understand that's just how it is sometimes. Triona was especially annoying at times but she was a beloved daughter for all her her life who was used to getting her way so I could see why she fought sometimes. Ronan was a little rough around the edges but really enjoyed their story!!

From reading the other reviews I thought this one would be a real adventure story, with an awesome and strong female character. Not to say that Triona O'Toole wasn't, but there was just something about her attitude/behavior that I wasn't buying. I had hoped for her to be strong and mature and she was a little bit crazy instead. Overall though it was a good story that left me curious enough about the other characters to purchase Wild Roses.

I just have to say that I loved this book. Ronan and Triona are great for each other. Triona has a mind of her own and is great with her bow and arrow. I couldn't put the book down till I had finished it. Great read. Characters are great.

The storyline is enjoyable and the characters were well developed. This is one of the longer books I have gotten lately and that was not a bad thing. I do agree that Trina was a pain but she was an emotionally immature woman who was raised by an overindulgent father. The formula was a common one but it was still a good read.

I enjoy a feisty heroine, and Triona was exactly that. As with most Greek tragedies, lack of communication between two people who seemingly love each other, is the main theme, but the pathos is what makes the story exciting as well. This was a thoroughly enjoyable book. As another person mentioned, I'd like the happy ending to be a little longer.

Wild Angel is an excellently written story with characters that pull you in from the first page to the last. Triona and Ronan will stay with you long after you've finish the book. A warning . . . clear your schedule before you start to read Wild Angel, you won't be able to put it down.
