Gillian Summers is a brilliant story teller. Her charming characters and beautiful heroine Keelie are loveable, memorable, and unique. Her story of Keelie is certainly one of a kind and has been enchanting through both The Faire Folk Saga and The Scions of Shadow Trilogy. This last novel, although still keenly interesting, seems to be lacking in it's ending and conclusion. Some major charcters are left out such as Laurie, Alora, and Elia. Even without these characters within the novel the conclusion reached leaves many questions unanswered and does not have that bittersweet taste that a regular "cliff hanger" might give one.

I have enjoyed all the books in this series about Keelie and her family and friends. This book was a little darker for Keelie as she grows up and has much tougher experiences. I couldn't put this book down and am anxious for the next one.

Just like the rest of the trilogy, it was a terrific read. I am looking forward to the next trilogy with Keliel.

One year after the death of her mother and her transition to life with her elven father, Keelie Heartwood returns to the High Mountain Renaissance Faire where she had her first experiences with magic and met many of her current companions. Her troubles in the Northwoods have followed her to the Faire however, and quickly Keelie is involved with rumours of a goblin army, suspicious elves, and a few new strange shopkeepers at the Faire. Keelie can sense the danger all around but with the elves snubbing her, she has no help there and will need to solve the problems with the help of trusty companion Knot, and a few friends, old and new.

I felt the Quicksilver Faire was a bit too far removed from the original spirit and feeling of the series, but am pleased to say, this one returns us to the world of Renaissance Faires and their wonderful, strange inhabitants. This setting is where the series shines the most; there is still a darker tone to this book, but the quirkiness of the Faire adds some lightness back in. Keelie continues to grow, mature, and take on bigger problems, along with Knot (who is my favorite character in the entire series). I highly recommend this series to teens, adults, and all who would enjoy the escape into the fantastic universe in which Keelie and her friends reside.

I did enjoy this book, but I felt that I was left with too many unanswered questions to believe that this book was really the conclusion to the Keelie Heartwood series. I will be thoroughly upset if I find that this was well and truly the last book. It was an enjoyable read despite all of that. I like the world presented in this book and all of the characters as well. It's generally fun and lighthearted.

Warning! Starting the Faire Folke trilogy is highly addictive and will keep you turning pages long after bedtime. Upon opening a Gillian Summers book, you will come under her spell. Read at your own peril.

I find myself re-reading Ms. Summers' books every few months. They are the perfect summer read! Taking them to the pool.
