This book (and others in the New Inductive Study Series) are set up with daily assignments that the authors "walk you through" in order to study the Gospel of John. On the seventh day of every week, there are discussion questions for small group or individual study. There is also a "thought for the week" or challenge/application at the end of every chapter (week). There are 13 chapters, set up to complete in 13 weeks (surprise, surprise). This book is not a commentary; while there are some insights given into the scripture, the whole point is for you to discover it for yourself. Much less intensive than a "Precept" course, but is as challenging as you want to make it.

I am working my way through the study and have not completed the book yet. The authors have me examining and studying very familiar scriptures in a new way. I am seeing things about God, I never considered in the context of the gospel of John. As I learn about how God cares for and knows me, I am learning to know and love God better!

This study guide will get you started in using the Precepts method of studying the Bible. You will need colored pencils and a notebook as well as a Bible you can mark in. I bought a precepts Bible to use. I have really learned critical reading of scriptures by using this guide. This is not like a Bible study where you answer questions but rather you are taught by dissecting scripture. I love Beth Moore Bible studies. This study will help you learn to search scripture just like Bible teachers. I would encourage you to try this study. Kay Arthur is a gifted teacher. She has you do the work but gently guides you.

This is my first Inductive Study with Kay Arthur. I was attracted by her other books on the inductive study method, but was intimidated by the marking instructions. Re that, this seemed to be easier to follow and more specific about what to do. But, I highly recommend the method, as you spend detailed time in the word of God, which in itself teaches you. Each chapter has assignments for one week, with questions for discussion and a Thought for the Week to sum up. Great for personal study, but even better with a small group. Thank you, Ms. Arthur and Mr. De Lacy

This is a great study. Our entire church went through this book at mid-week service. Mt. Moriah Baptist in Tucker GA. I loved the study. I learned a lot about the God we serve and His love for us. I actually want to read it again.

Using for a Bible study in women's group meetings. Easy to use to go through the book of John. Helps one to understand John's point of view and to understand the significance of John as one of the Four Gospels.
