I thought this book was wonderful. It carefully explores many questions that arise from the statement, "God is Love" and gives well-reasoned answers that are faithful to the Magisterium of the Church. This book is very uplifting because it helps you to really see how God is Love, and how God's love works in our lives. Prof. Kreeft helps you to rise above our common way of thinking about love in society and points the way for a deeper way of thinking about love in general and God's love in particular.

I feel this book has deepened my faith in God and my understanding of some of the Church's teachings on God's love. I find Prof. Kreeft to be very readable, and the pages go by quickly. I think this book is a "must-read", definitely for all adult Catholics and probably for all adult Christians. Quite honestly, when I finished this book I wanted to run into the streets and tell the world about it. I felt like I had been let-in on the world's best kept secret and the time had come to let that secret out!

Peter Kreeft brings to Christians the true meaning of God's love for mankind. His examples and simple theologic reasoning make it easy for all readers to comprehend the great love that God shares with all of us. He puts this into perspective in a very unique way and makes it instructive for the way we need to share God's love with one another.

I have to admit, it's a great book, he takes a very interesting and intellectual approach which I really appreciated. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone that is just trying to find their way of faith in todays world or already has a close relationship with God, or especially for people who are still far away from him, I think its a great book to show to skeptics the true love of God, who is love himself.

If you can only purchase one book by this author, this is the one to have.
In this compelling look at "the one thing necessary" for living out one's faith,
Peter Kreeft speaks words to all the faithful about what the power of Christ's
love means to our lives, thoughts, and actions. In a broken world teeming with
frivilous thoughts and dead-end ideas, these words in due season can inspire
the reader to learn better, and practice more fully, divine love and healing.

Just finished reading it in a group of 7 men over 10 weeks. Each week got better and held more anticipation for the next week.

The penultimate way to grow your faith is to Believe absolutely that God Loves You outrageously and recklessly, though it remains a mystery why!!! Once you fully accept that, then the question arises....if He Loves me more than I can possibly Love myself, then who should I trust that will do the best for me....Him or Me???

Kreeft book is phenomenal in expressing this enormous love from numerous perspectives. Beautifully written and a wonderful precursor to jumping into the mystic saints..... Which Dr Kreeft suggests doing. One if best reads ever on His Love for each one of us individually.

Kreeft comes across as someone who is writing about what he knows, not what he's studied or has theories about. He knows the love of God. The overwhelming majesty of his God is painted across the pages and leaves you with an overall picture of a God who is truly awesome, mind-blowing and unbelievably great.

Kreeft writes in an unusual way, breaking up what is often a scholarly, somewhat dry academic study of the subject of love with occasional poetic rhapsodies. It took some time to get into. This was part of group reading plan and several friends said they hadn't enjoyed it much. As I started it, I knew what they meant: it was dry and repetitive, but I felt compelled to finish it. I'm so glad I did.

You'll find some thought-provoking, probably life-changing gems in this book if you carry on reading. It certainly has the fullest and most helpful explanation of agape love that I've come across. Personal highlights include brief sections on hell, suffering and the political theology chapter.

A classic on par with Tozer's 'Knowledge of the Holy'.
