Editorial Reviews

When Tony, her son's best friend recently diagnosed with cancer, begs Grace Cragin (Academy®, Emmy® and Golden Globe® winner Christine Lahti) to take on a big tobacco company in his honor, she can't refuse the case. But she never could have predicted how dirty the game would become, nor how personal the fight for justice would get.

This was supposed to be a movie about a lawyer willing to take on big tobacco and fight for a young athlete who developed cancer from using tobacco. There was some of that in the movie but mostly it was about the relationship between the lawyer and her former husband. There were too many sex scenes between them and we never really got to know the victim, who appeared in only a few scenes. This movie had tremendous potential but fell far short because of a bad plot and amateur directing. The acting was good.

Christine Lahti is a fine actress and does well in this movie portraying a sometime-academic and sometime-litigating attorney. With the tobacco industry as the foil, who couldn't be sympathetic to her client and his cause? The cast is good. The writing is good. The relationships between Lahti and her ex-husband lawyer are cozy, too cozy. Yet despite the innate contrast between sweet innocence (the doomed tobacco-chewing youngster-client) and the "evil" corporate "suits" (profit is not hostage to health), the movie lacked a visceral punch. The court verdict says it all.

It was ok but I would not watch it again. Nice idea of an ex-husband coming back to help his wife. But the court fight was boring.

It was interesting to watch, especially from the vantage point of now - knowing about the tobacco companies. The acting was good.

Movie had a story with beginning, middle, and ending. Casting of major parts good fit. Overall good production. A surprise type movie for the evening.

It's about life and rings true in some areas I can relate to. It's about love and how misperceptions of ourselves and others messes us up along the way. Sometimes common goals can help us to find our way back. It is about the hills worth fighting on and the subjects that need truth and justice in our society.
