After you find your savior, you may have to save yourself. When Verdu sacrificed his freedom to help Chenda and the rest of her companions escape from Tugrulia, he hoped to join the Tugrulian resistance movement. But then he hit rock bottom. Captive, injured, and depressed, he saw no way to help the resistance, let alone himself, until he found he was closer to real power than he could have dreamed. The question becomes, how far is he willing to go to get it? And meanwhile, what will his friends do to get him back? The crew of the Brofman abandon the safe skies and find all kinds of trouble on their journey to reclaim what they lost. The Gospel According to Verdu is the exciting follow up to Emilie P. Bush's Steampunk adventure Chenda and the Airship Brofman.

Former Host of Georgia Public Radio's "Georgia Gazette" Emilie P. Bush has traded in writing the news for writing Steampunk. Her debut novel, Chenda and the Airship Brofman, sends Chenda and her companions up in the air, across a desert, through a mountain and under the sea in a thrilling adventure. Emilie P. Bush lives and writes in Atlanta. Currently, Emilie is writing the follow up to Chenda - Called The Gospel According to Verdu, and a modern mythological fantasy entitled Cryptid.
"I started in radio, writing and reading the news. The first national story I sold was when I was 19 years old, working in the WOUB news room in Athens, Ohio. A chemical plant in Belpre, Ohio, had exploded and I broke the story to NPR news. I decided two things on that day: I wanted to cover the arts (as I really felt AWFUL for being happy when lives had been lost) and I was in love with public radio. I worked on and off in radio for the next dozen years - Finally ending up at 'Georiga Gazette.' I left radio - perhaps for good, shortly after my daughter was born. After my second child came along, I started to have this feeling like, 'if I don't write a novel, I'll die a horrible death.' So I started writing, and what flowed out of me was Chenda and the Airship Brofman."
I read bot books of the Brofman series back to back. I enjoyed both. They are a fun new world with a nice nod to steampunk but without making everything mechanical in this world. I liked the first book slightly better because I found keeping track of 4 main characters narrations and then branching into 3 or 4 more side characters left me feeling a bit rushed through the story and not close to any of the characters like i did in the first book. I enjoyed this as a steampunk novel that isn't a romance novel (although it does have romance in it) or trying to recreate 19th century verse. Its definitely a great find as a kindle book. You can't beat this for $3 of entertainment for each book!
This sequel to Chenda and the Airship Brofman picks up where the first left off and carries us forward into the Steampunk saga of Chenda and her amazing powers. Having read the first, I was so happy to continue in this world of Chenda and her companions. It kept me riveted and not wanting to go to work until I had finished it (too bad I had to earn a salary). Author Emilie Bush gives Chenda the ultimate powers every girl/woman wants to conquer her world and two gorgeous hunks to choose from. The only problem I saw with this book is that I now have to wait FOREVER to get the next sequel! Hurry Up Emilie! Bring back Chenda and her gang again. I loved both books and am now a firm Chenda-fan!
Well written story with a clear plot, strong well drawn characters of both genders with a healthy splash of romance; I am looking forward to more by this author.
