It is very clear and flows very well.
S.A.
Unlike several other translators of the Qur'an (who are also very good), he is a native Arabic speaker fluent in Fousa'a, the classical Arabic of the Qur'an.

This translation is the best and should be made into e-book or an App.

This is one of the best English translations of al-Qur'an that I have read, and I've read eight (Maulana Muhammad Ali's The Holy Qur'an with English Translation and Commentary (English and Arabic Edition), Ustadh Abdullah Yusuf Ali's The Holy Quran: Transliteration in Roman Script with Arabic Text and English Translation,The Meaning of the Glorious Qur'an - Text and Explanatory Translation By Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall, Laleh Bakhtiar'sThe Sublime Quran, Abdalhaqq and Aisha Bewley's The Noble Qur'an: A New Rendering of Its Meaning in English, Thomas Cleary'sThe Qur'an: A New Translation, Muhammad Asad's The Message of the Qur'an: The full account of the revealed Arabic text accompanied by parallel transliteration (English and Arabic Edition) and this one by Ahmad Zaki Hammad). The only one I prefer to this one is Asad's, and I will explain why at the end of this review. The translations I still wish to read are Abdel Haleem's...Read more ›

I own several translations of the Qur'an and have had the pleasure of working with Professor Ahmad Zaki Hammad in the past. Undoubtedly, it is the leading translation of the meaning of the Qur'an. Dr. Hammad not only obtained his Ph.D. in this area, but he is also a professor specializing in Islamic Studies at Al Azhar University, the number university in Islamic Studies in the world. Unlike several other translators of the Qur'an (who are also very good), he is a native Arabic speaker fluent in Fousa'a, the classical Arabic of the Qur'an. As a result, he is able to put forth the meaning of the Qur'an in the most accurate manner, and does not commit potential translation errors that we see in other English translations of the Qur'an. He also uses modern English which precludes the sometimes errant wording of others trying to imitate Shakespearean English. I also like the fact that he spends quite a bit of time explaining why he translated some Qur'anic terms a certain way--something very helpful to an author like myself. Although a tad pricy, his book is a worthwhile investment in reading the meaning of the Qur'an if you are not an Arabic speaker. Please note that, ultimately, nothing can replace the original Arabic of the Qur'an especially when words have multilayered meanings. Nevertheless, Professor Hammad's effort will, by the Grace of God, will be long remembered as one of the best in getting at the meaning of the Qur'an.

This is hands down the most beautiful translation of the Qur'an I have ever read. It is very clear and flows very well. You will not be disappointed. The translator has put in a lot of time and effort (over 20 years) in order to bring this translation to us - and it is my sincere hope that everyone interested in understanding what the Qur'an says will read this book.

This Quran is very beautiful, and is perfect because it holds both English and Arabic text. I bought this for my Bestfriends birthday and she loved it. I would suggest anyone to buy this, and the pricing is a very good deal as well.

This is a great translation. I was recommended this version by a woman who is rather qualified in translating, and in languages. The original Arabic meaning and subtleties, and writing style can never be capture in translation and never is there a version without mistakes. However, I have enjoyed reading this one, and my trusted mentor in understanding the Qur'an and Arabic highly recommends this for accuracy.

Finally, an English translation Qur'an that appears closer to the eloquence of its Arabic meaning. I am a dedicated bibliophile and an aspiring wordsmith. From the Qur'an, I draw regular inspiration from its urgency in meaning, the fluidity in its text, and the Divine Hand's user-manual instructions and appeals. I feel privileged to read this modern-day version; I also I purchased an extra copy for one of my local masjids. My gratitude goes to Professor Hammad and all others who put obvious copious amounts of intellectual sweat in producing this acclaimed new translation. No doubt each of you sits on the shoulders of giants like Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall, Abdullah Yusuf Ali, and Dr. Thomas Cleary. These translators and writers pioneered translations that made such a work possible.

I have reviewed multiple translations ..All try to literal translate which sometimes either does not convey the actual meaning or distort it. Some try to use old biblical English which makes it hard for the lay person to understand. There is room for some improvement. In Arabic it is common to have the sentence reversed, and if it is translated you loose the meaning. Also, frequently, the reference is inferred and not spelled and if this is not taken into consideration, it becomes hard to follow. This translation is the best and should be made into e-book or an App.
