The Gratitude Book Project has a short essay for each day of the year. Anytime you are feeling down, you can just open the book to any place and read an essay or you can read the essay for each date for your "daily dose" of gratitude.
These essays are written by "real" people describing something in their life that they feel immense gratitude for. Why read someone else's personal essay about gratitude? Because it's sure to spark gratitude in yourself as well. My high school Geometry teacher had a poster on her classroom wall that said "Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have." That is gratitude and that's what this book is about.
Something that really strikes me about this book is that so many people describe gratitude for hardships in their lives. It's easy to feel gratitude when everything is going your way ("I'm grateful for my new job", "I'm grateful I'm healed from a disease") but to be able to feel gratitude for something that disrupted the easy flow of life--as the editors say in the opening of the book--that can be life-changing experience!

A Daily Dose of Inspiration December 14, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
What a wonderful bedside book. I purchased this book and after thumbing through just a few pages I am so glad I did. I haven't decided if I am going to read a page each night before bed to calm my mind with a story of gratitude or first thing in the morning to start off my day thinking of all the things in this world to be grateful for. A book by real people, for real people, and full of real stories!

365 days of gratitude equals a whole year of inspiration. This book is chock full of fascinating examples of the things for which we can all give thanks. Each day is a different perspective on what it means to be grateful.

When I first opened the book I read it cover to cover. Now I keep it by my bedside to read each day's tale of gratitude. I like to read it at night as it leads to a wonderful sense of contentment as I drift off to sleep.

This is a great holiday gift for anyone who could use some inspiration and an appreciation for what's good in their lives. The daily format add's to the books message, as each day has its own reason to celebrate!

Thank you Donna, for creating this wonderful homage to gratitude and for donating all of the Amazon proceeds to some really wonderful charities. I'm grateful to be a part of it!
