You'd think by the title that this would be a book for moms, about moms, and by moms, and it is, but it's so much more than that. "The Gratitude Project: Celebrating Moms & Motherhood" touches everyone, because motherhood touches everyone. Becoming a mother makes you the mother of all children, and from that point on every wounded, abandoned, frightened child is yours. This feeling of pure, unbridled love comes shining through the pages of this book as each of the authors share, celebrate and bleed what it means to be a mother or loved by one.

Motherhood brings absolute joy, but it also brings exhaustion, boredom, and sorrow, too. Nothing else will ever make you as happy or as sad, as proud or as tired, because nothing is quite as hard as helping a person develop her own individuality, especially while you struggle to keep your own. The essays in this book are filled with the wisdom, strength and wonder of motherhood, and whether you are blessed to be a mom, a mother-to-be,a mother-in-law, a grandmother, a son or daughter, you will find yourself relating to many of the experiences shared in Moms and Motherhood.

It's the perfect Mother's Day gift. It's the perfect gift, period, and that includes making sure you give one to yourself, too!

I am inspired by THE GRATITUDE BOOK PROJECT: CELEBRATING MOMS & MOTHERHOOD and its heartwarming stories and tributes to mothers of all kinds. As other reviewers have pointed out, these entries are real reflections by real, every day people. I know, because mine entitled "My Mother's Gift" was selected and included on page 193.

My book order came last week, and I'm very pleased with the quality of the book and the entries I have perused. I had assumed it would be an ideal Mother's Day gift, and indeed it would. As I read the entries, however, I truly think it would be an especially wonderful gift for expectant mothers or new mothers. It would also be appreciated by someone who has been LIKE a mother to you.

The best part is that the proceeds from Amazon sales will all go to Women for Women International, an organization that provides women survivors of war, civil strife and other conflicts with the tools and resources to move from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency, thereby promoting viable civil societies.

It has been a privilege to participate in this project, and I hope others will enjoy and share it.

This delightful collection of stories is a thoughtful gift for your mom and those other females in your life that have subbed-in as "Mom" from time-to-time or perhaps most of the time!

There's the "Reminder From God" story on Page 60 by Marcie Mandigo Jones about a change in perspective she received one day from her then 2-yr old son. There's the touching story of a daughter remembering the sentimental moments of a lifetime of love and caring by Linda Giangreco on Page 167. And there's my story of the first time my [oh-so-challenging] then 12 yr old step-daughter, said "I LOVE YOU" on Page 62.

Whatever page you turn to in this little gem of a book, your mouth will curve into a smile, your heart will open a little wider, and moms everywhere will be gratified by the reminder of the blessings they bring to the world!
