Book Description

The scenic bayous and small towns of South Louisiana hold hidden dangers beyond those you might expect - in a tangled tale of mystery and suspense.

Raya, a freelance writer and blogger, researches cold cases for true crime websites. One case in particular, the Bayou Family Slaughter case, stirs macabre memories, but are they real or imagined? Determined to uncover the truth, she heads to the small town of St. Felicity to investigate the 20-year old Bayou Family Slaughter case.

Raya gets help from Nick Simoneaux, a young St. Felicity detective who is also investigating the cold case, but is Nick hiding family secrets from Raya? Is there anyone in St. Felicity she can trust, or is a murderer still living in this quaint old town - waiting and watching?

As Raya reveals St. Felicity's secrets, she uncovers the mysteries of her own past, leading to dangers that threaten not only her own existence, but the lives of those she loves most.

THE GRAVE BLOGGER is a fast-paced, riveting suspense thriller from an exciting new author. Donna D. Fontenot draws on her own experiences as a blogger and Louisiana Cajun to create a tense mystery filled with engaging characters in a setting that draws the reader in with its unique beauty and hidden dangers.

I'm not a great one for fiction, and when I do pick up a book I often throw it aside after a chapter-or-two. When I purchased The Grave Blogger on Amazon.com though, it had me spellbound to the last page. Couldn't put it down. I missed appointments and had the family wondering what happened--I wasn't planning to read but once I had those pages open I had to keep reading right to the end. I love Fontenot's style, and I think we might have a new genre here: Blogger Fiction. The story centers around a talented young crime blogger and her mysterious past. I'm not saying any more though--read it for yourself. The Grave Blogger is highly recommended. I love that it comes in my favorite Kindle format too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Must Read for Fans of Modern Crime Fiction April 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
"The Grave Blogger" is a murder mystery that is not for the faint-hearted. The horrors of the torturings and killings detailed within its pages are definitely not for those who prefer their mysteries to be the cozy kind. This story, complete with a psychotic psychiatrist, takes place in the Deep South where it takes a special kind of macabre to send chills up your spine.

The main character, Raya, is a true crime blogger who begins having flashbacks of a gruesome massacre--one that she witnessed as a young child while she remained, she now hopes and prays, hidden out of sight of the killer. The human monster who committed the revolting crimes twenty years ago in this small, seemingly idyllic, bayou town was never caught.

Enter the attractive Nick Simoneaux, a detective, who agrees to talk with Raya about the case. He harbors fears that his own father might have been involved as they begin to interview townspeople who were around when the first murders were perpetrated. It has been suspected that the killer was one of the town's own. No one is above suspicion.

Fontenot's style allows the reader to see through the eyes of the main characters, which is especially chilling from the killer's perspective. Readers' hearts will be racing as the story twists and turns and the suspense rapidly intensifies in this creepy "OMG-this could really happen" page-turner. Prepare to devour this fast-paced thriller in one sitting with the lights on and the doors locked.

"The Grave Blogger" was awarded 1st Place in the Murder/Suspense Category of the INDIE Awards, a division on the Chanticleer Blue Ribbon Awards 2013. Fontenot's first novel, "The Grave Blogger", was selected for showcasing a new style in fiction writing for fans of modern crime stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally Engrossing!! July 13, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Like the other reviewers have mentioned, this book will draw you in from the start! Once I began reading it, I KNEW I would be finishing it in the same day, as I HAD to know how it would end!! Being from Louisiana myself, I also loved the setting- I could almost see the moss covered trees and taste the Po-boys that were perfectly described.
Make sure you set aside enough time to finish this book in one or two sittings because once you begin it, you won't want to put it down!

5.0 out of 5 stars A NOTCH ABOVE July 4, 2012
By Pam S
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Really GOOD books, through inspired authors, enable the reader to closely witness the detailed journeys traveled by the characters as the mystery unfolds. As too, this book likewise easily accomplishes. But GREAT books, they somehow seem to, without warning, place the reader directly and slap-dab in the middle of the scene.
Don't be embarrassed as you fearfully crouch below the low hanging Spanish moss, smell the damp swamp odors, and instinctively swat at your imaginary mosquitoes. I understand.

4.0 out of 5 stars Compelling Thriller October 31, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
The Grave Blogger, Donna D. Fontenot's first novel is a clever, fast paced and extremely twisted psychological thriller. Drawing on her upbringing in a cajun household in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the author was able to clearly capture the essence and flavor of small town life near a bayou. Cleverly intertwining her personal passions of computers and blogging, she has created a unique and realistic main character with a intriguing and unusual occupation.

Raya Landry, the main character is a freelance writer and professional blogger, who researches and investigates cold cases for true crime websites. While researching her newest cold case, Raya has a curious and disturbing flashback of a brutal and horrific slaying of an entire family. Discovering that she is the lone survivor, Raya embarks on a journey to solve the twenty year old homicide case, despite the possible risks of becoming the killers next target.

Overall the book was a fantastic page turner that was very hard to put down. The characters were believable, yet a bit quirky at the same time, which kept the reader wanting to know more.

Throughout the novel, each character was given its own voice and the reader was able to experience the world through their eyes. Especially fascinating is the killer's perspective. The killer is extremely twisted, diabolical, and merciless - toying with the victims and psychologically torturing them, before ultimately ending their lives. As often is the case, the villain has the most disturbing and compelling role.

At the conclusion, the author leaves open the opportunity for a possible book two in the adventures of a true crime blogger. Looking forward to more novels from this impressive new author.
