5 of 5 people found the following review helpful By Charles Conway on December 10, 2006
Format: Hardcover
Whether you have 5 minutes or 5 hours of free time, this book will entertain, inform, and perhaps even infuriate you (if you disagree with the author's list!). As a sports fan, I've heard numerous accounts of some of the most storied events in NY sports history, but I've never wanted to read an entire book on any of these historic moments. Well, here's the answer. In only a few pages (for each event), Miller cuts to the chase and masterfully retells the story as if you were there. The icing on the cake is the "bonus" lists he includes, such as the best and worst trades by New York teams. All told, this is one book that won't collect dust on my shelf.

I have been reading sports since 1933, and Stuart Miller's 100 Greatest IS the greatest sports writing ever. A masterly performance. I was wishing it had been 200, or even 1000.

Author Miller provides plenty of fodder for arguments here, but its a book that sports aficionados (especially from the tri-state area) will thoroughly enjoy.
