Not only does this book not portray what a "Green Beret" stands for but a total mis-characterization of what true "Green Berets" are doing in the Global War on Terrorism!!! This author clearly articulates and displays the attributes of one of the worst Team Sergeants that the Special Forces Regiment ever produced. This author was a "Green Beret" at one time but was stripped of his Special Forces Tab and Green Beret and forced to retire outside of the Regiment in disgrace. This book should not even be in the same sentence as the beloved Robin Moore's book "The Green Berets". Would not recommend this book to my worst enemy who was on fire!!!

This book is an accurate portrayal of the elite forces of the Army, the Green Berets, who truly are the silent professionals. And why are they so significant? Because they aren't afraid to get their hands dirty and do what needs to be done. The Green Berets have played a major role in the War on Freedom in the Middle East, particularly helping deconstruct terrorist cells and establishing jobs for the residents, but also bringing in the "Aces of the Deck" which were key terrorist leaders. These men may not have the prettiest job description and details, but you can sure thank them for your freedom. Jay Mann's novel depicts just this, with frequent comical bouts of the main character John, who is known as the "White Devil" and has a guardian Angel (or maybe guardian Devil) that seems to be working overtime. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. Patiently awaiting more works from Jay Mann!!!!

As a former teammate of Jay Mann, I can tell you there is no finer warrior! No doubt the person who wrote the bad review is either some spineless individual that was in the chain of command or one of the cowards who had to leave his team because they could not perform in combat. I would like to also point out that the Sergeant Major who pushed for Jay to have his Tab revoked was just recently relieved for adultery, with some skank he met on craigslist and knocked up. There are many who were in the chain of command who had never been to combat at the operational level(ODA). These indivuals resent warriors like Jay. I would also like to point out that Jay was awarded the silver star and purple heart for his last combat tour as Team Sergeant. As far as the reviewer who described himself as a real Green Beret, I doubt it! He surely doesn't measure up to the quiet professional motto!

This book cuts through all the bs and gets right to the action. He may be a cowboy but to beat the terrorists you have to use brutal tacticts or we will lose the war. The person who wrote the first review must have been Jeff.

Jay tells it like it is and without the sugar coating. It's not a book for the faint of heart or the kind of person whom would rather not know what happens in war. I thought the book gave this civilian a little glimpse into what is required to be a good soldier and get home alive. Thank God for soldiers like Jay Mann.
