About the Author

Steve Shaw lives in a small town in Oregon where he is still pastoring his first church after 34 years. He has an incredible passion for the presence of God, authentic Christian community, and seeing the Kingdom of God advance in the earth through the empowered church as it did in the Book of Acts. He also has a heart for the unsung heroes of the small churches in small towns and wants to assist them to see their churches move from survival to significance. Steve and his wife Midge have been married for 40 years and have raised two incredible sons.

Steve Shaw's book is such an incredible exploration of our current revival movement.

Have you ever experienced a powerful touch from God at a conference only to return home to struggle with how to articulate that encounter to your friends and family?

After spending 4 years at Bethel Church in Redding, CA, I moved on to finish college where I noticed that my theology and core values had changed deeply. I often struggled to explain why my convictions were different than those I attended church with. Beyond believing in signs, wonders, and miracles, my sense of who God is and how He interacts with us, who I am to Him and to the world, and what my role as a believer is has drastically changed. Steve gave me language to articulate three distinct theological shifts that accompany the current Charismatic revival movement that has swept the world.

This book is a must read for anyone struggling to share what they've experienced in revival culture, or for those who have experienced it but have never had any biblical teaching to support it. It would also work well as a study book or as part of a school curriculum. Steve's heart is evident throughout, as he seeks to serve and father a generation of people hungry for the things and ways of God.

I just finished reading "The Green Ladder." I have the joy of leading a church in the same region of Oregon as Steve Shaw. Part of my joy is being near such a wise and faithful leader who is able to express Kingdom concepts so clearly. His passion touches all the churches in our area. The Green Ladder unfolds a paradigm shift that God is asking many of us to step into so that we can truly reflect a church of power in our culture. Read this excellent work and let God tinker with your ideas as He did with mine.

The Green Ladder affirmed for me many thoughts I have regarding the Kingdom of God. It was an inspirational experience to see similar thoughts being expressed by Pastor Steve Shaw. The Green Ladder moves us beyond the gospel of salvation into the full Gospel of Jesus Christ. This book will cause you to think, and then rethink how you view the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is a great book for young pastors. For young pastors this book alongside of the Bible will give each opportunity to grow into the dynamic power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God. I encourage pastors to read this book and share with church leaders and servants. Sharing the Green Ladder with key church leaders will make a differance as application of the principles are applied to the vision of each church!

I have been walking with the Lord nearly 4 decades, and yet, I find the more I learn, the less I fully grasp the depth and vastness of God's glorious riches and great Love towards us. I recently read "The Green Ladder" and am excited about the Spiritual treasures that are revealed throughout. This book is compelling to read, easy to understand, and has many profound, insightful "ah ha" moments. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a greater understanding of the will of God......on a global level as well as personally.

Great book, with important information. It's a super simple book, but I believe it catches hold of something that God is doing in the church and that people who haven't even read this book will see all the things talked about in this being done as normal Christianity with a short amount of time.. My appreciation to the author for a great articulation of what God's already doing in many circles of Christianity!!

Steve Shaw offers a fresh look at living out the kingdom lifestyle from a grace based identity in the poer and love of the Holy Spirit. This book did not come from going to lot's of conferences and merely learning the language of the Kingdom but was inspired by the love and faithfulness of God as he radically transformed his church in Grants Pass and by transforming grace enriching and renewing Steve. This is Kingdom 101 at its finest, a foundational work for servant leaders and all the saints. Jesus smile is shining on Grant's Pass because of the bright testimony of these brothers and sisters love for each other and their community. This a biblically sound book pulsating with the love and supernatural glow of the King.
