Book Description

After struggling as an aspiring jazz musician in Greenwich Village, Gabe Malek takes a delivery job at a local deli only to have his elderly boss, Mr. Zeddiker, divulge an astonishing secret that threatens to challenge everything he believes.

A story that begins in modern New York City, soon takes the reader from Israel in the first century A.D., across the Mediterranean to France, to Scotland, and even the pre-Columbian Americas.

Few artifacts in history are more enigmatic than a religious icon known simply as "The Green Man." For centuries, this mysterious image has appeared in churches, on buildings, and in gardens, the world over.

The final unveiling of "The Green Man" will intrigue both biblical scholars and historians alike.

4.0 out of 5 stars Deceptive April 23, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The description makes this sounds like an exploration of mythology, and I guess it is, if you consider Christianity mythology, but what this is really is the story of a lost sheep being brought back to the fold. The historical stories told by the green man are the strong points of the book, but the mystery of who the green man is becomes apparent long before the author finally reveals it. There are a couple of loose ends, and the ending was unsatisfying. This really could have used more editing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Answers "The DaVinci Code" October 26, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
If, like me, you found Dan Brown's "DaVinci Code" entertaining, but were bothered by his made-up "facts," then this book is for you.

The old expression "a man with an experience is never at the mercy of a man with an argument" applies to "The Green Man" in spades. I don't want to be a spoiler, so I will just say the title character's strange life-experience gains depth and credibility with every turn of the page. After I read this manuscript, I could not get him out of my head. The author so inhabits the unbelievable life of his protagonist, so beautifully captures his voice, and so deeply conveys his burden, that I was quickly consumed with his amazing saga.

5.0 out of 5 stars IS IT IS OR IS IT NOT November 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The book held my interest from the opening chapter and had me wanting more. The author wonderfully crafted and stitched his way through biblical and Judeo-Christian history seemingly taking some literary license with a few of the familiar blble stories. But then, did he really? The plausibility of the main character, The Green Man, left you questioning his current whereabouts and existence.
A very well written book. I look for more from the author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't skip the prologue! March 24, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
When even the prologue grabs your attention, you know you're going to be drawn into the plot! No need to have known anything previously about the Green Man to be enthralled. Mark Pendergrass is a talented and fascinating author; I'd check out anything he has to offer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple yet Brilliant December 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've always been intrigued by The Green Man. Most of the images I've seen of him were of a laughing smiling man, covered in leaves and vines filled with hidden mysteries. The Green man, also known as Mr. Zed welcomed me to share in his mirth, his pain and his travels. After uncovering layers of dust and cobwebs of biblical history, I was caught up and intrigued by a coin, a blues bar and a unveiling of ancient Hebrew. Mark was able to take the biblical stories we all love and bring them to life throughout the pages of this book. This is a great start for an upcoming author!
