5.0 out of 5 stars "The Green" is No Joke!!, March 21, 2010
This review is from: The Green (Audio CD)
I just got this CD the other day & it is probably one of the tightest production & songwriting jobs I've heard in a while. The mainland just doesn't know what talent is anymore; with all its recycled auto-tune crap & pathetic attempts @ what is suppose to be music, its a nice breath of fresh air to hear REAL music that is REALLY played by a group, not fabricated by any wanna-be producer.

You want good music with good vibes check out "The Green"

I was given the CD as a gift and it blew my mind! The music gets going and the good vibes start flowing.... the lyrics are great and the vocals are outstanding! If you enjoy reggae and want something new to add to your collection, I highly recommend it.... it is a great summer cd too! Best gift ever!

5.0 out of 5 stars To good to be true ,a band with so much culture, March 8, 2011
This review is from: The Green (Audio CD)
On Monday, March 7,2011 at the State Theatre in Falls Church,Va. I witness the Winter Greens Tour featuring Rebelution,Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad,And The Green Band.Seeing is believing and you need to see this band to believe it.I could not believe the drum and the bass they was putting out, they had the crowd going wild.I will support The Green Band every time they come to the Washington,D.C. area in the future. If you ever get a chance to see them "GO" you will get your money worth.

I can see now, after only a day of owning this Jawaiian work of art, this is gonna be one CD that will be in our truck for a while without interrupt. I can say that I wish it had have been 320kbps, or a slightly higher bitrate, yet the production is impeccable, and it sounds great on cd. They'll be all around the states for the next few weeks, and after listening to this CD I just know we'll be checking them out, for sure... very much fitting that hawaiian style, reggae with essences of rock and a few nice laid back yet fulfilling love chunez... grab the CD and you'll be happy with your purchase I am sure. Long live Hawaii soundz.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST FOR REGGAE FANS!, February 23, 2012

I took a trip recently to northshore oahu and this cd makes me fell like i'm back there when i listen to it (probably because thats where i first heard the green)
The Green is a very gifted band that fuses both both classic and newer reggae styles with rock and r&b, but it's a flavor all their own and between this album and their follow up ways and means The Green are setting the standard for reggae. Do yourself a favor and buy this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Album, Cheesy Horns:, August 16, 2011
This review is from: The Green (MP3 Download)
Overall I enjoy the album, and potential of this band is there in spades. It's a great chill reggae album which is a refreshing sound with so many bands leaning to more of a surf, rock, reggae edge. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but on occasion you just need something to get your woman in the mood for a night of love & affection (pun intended).

My only complaint about this album is the cheesy synth horns! God! I can't say enough how much I hate the sound of keyboard horns in Reggae music! Maybe in the 80's you could get away with it, or even performing live, but for a CD that will be available to so many people who may never see you live.....PUT YOUR BEST EFFORT FORWARD SCRAPE UP THE EXTRA MONEY & HIRE SOME LIVE PLAYERS! It's so frustrating to hear so many great songs ruined by that generic sound. Something that simple can make the difference between a band being great or just being average.

Being that this was their first album I'm cutting them some slack, but if the cheesy synth horns continue I won't be buying anything more by these guys.
