Product Description

Color: Red

To get those particles out of your sponge or mitt, you need the Grit Guard Insert. The raised radial surface fits in the bottom of any 5 gallon bucket and extracts grit from your wash mitt or sponge when you drag it across the Grit Guard. The dirt settles at the bottom of the bucket so your wash water stays clean. The Grit Guard has a radial grid surface that scrapes dirt out of your mitt or sponge. Four quadrants at the base of the Grit Guard calm the wash water and hold the grid above the bottom of the bucket. Dirt falls to the bottom and stays there. You'll be amazed at how much dirt accumulates in the bottom of your wash bucket!

Customer Reviews

Fits 5-Gallon Home Depot bucket perfectly.
Lawrence R. Wright
As advertised it keeps grit and dirt that settle to the bottom of a wash bucket separated from the "clean" water.
Eric Miller
If you like to hand wash your car or truck I highly recommend this product.

This is made from a good quality plastic, plus it fits nicely in a homedepot or lowes 5 gallon bucket.

Fits a "Homer" bucket perfectly snug.
I can empty the bucket without the guard falling out.

NO! They DO NOT fit your standard 5 gallon bucket that is sold at the big box stores. Just because they go inside does not mean they fit as they were designed to. They stop 4 inches from the bottom of the largest 5 gal bucket at Lowes. We all believe they will be resting on the bottom of the bucket when we buy these Grit Guards.

I cut off 1 outer ring and filed down the sharp plastic edges and now mine fit to the bottom of my 5 Gal buckets. They are 10.5 inches as advertised...so if you don't want to trim these to make them fit..make sure your bucket at the bottom is a little bigger than 10.5 inches.

I purchased these as well as two new buckets from our local Farm and Fleet. Unfortunately, these Grit Guards wouldn't go to the bottom, as others have stated, it stops about 4-5" from the bottom. Since many others are having the fit issue, I would be curious where people are buying their buckets that do fit...would like to get a couple

The Product Description states '...inserts into any standard size bucket...', however the Grit Guards I received did not fit the 'standard 5 gallon buckets' I purchased from my local hardware store. The Grit Guards, at nearly 10.5 inches in diameter at the top of the guard would only insert about halfway down into the bucket. Looking at the Home Depot web site, their standard orange 5 gallon pail states: 'Holds up to a 9 in. bucket grid', so I'm doubtful that this Grit Guard will fit theirs either. I guess I'll have to keep searching. One final note; the inserts I purchased were supposed to be by StateofNine per the Amazon web page, but the packaging of the inserts I received is labeled with [...]. Not sure if this makes any difference or not.

Fits most buckets, Little smaller diameter and would fit more I think. Seems to be a quality grid piece that wont break.

Most of us have tried to wash a car with a five gallon bucket and found that when you dip the rag or sponge back in the bucket and swirl it or shake it to get the dirt off the dirt on the bottom of the bucket swirls up and some of it redeposits on the rag. This product does what it claims and both gives you a place to scrub the dirt off and helps to prevent the dirt from being stirred up off the bottom of the bucket. Using two of them stacked in the bucket really keeps the water clean.

Just what I was looking for! Perfect fit for a Home Depot kind of bucket. It's well made and sturdy, keeps your mitts and other cleaning tools well clear of all of the grit and grime at the bottom of the bucket.
