Book Description

For undergraduate courses in Child Development taught Chronologically.

Boyd/Bee provides students the most support for learning and success.

The Growing Child emphasizes how the three domains of development — physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional — interact with each other and with the environment to affect developmental outcomes. Featuring an innovative student-focused format, it provides the self-assessment tools necessary to keep students engaged in active learning from start to finish, as well as the most support to help students organize, understand, and apply the material.

Much of the text was highlighted...annoying while studying. Did not include the CD which was optional for my course. Other than that no major complaints.

3.0 out of 5 stars School book April 13, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
It was what was expected, a rather dry book surrounding the psychological theories of growing up. Not terrible, not stellar, average textbook.

I bought this for a class I was taking at college. It was an enjoyable and interesting read as well as being written in a down to earth, easy to understand language and tone.

4.0 out of 5 stars For Class February 20, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I'm using this book for a developmental psychology class that I'm taking and I really like it. It's not too textbook literal, it delivers information in a concise way and also has great notes and study guides inside. I'll hang on to this one and not resell it--it's that good!
(It also helps that I bought used, in which the previous owner highlighted a bunch of stuff to make my life easier. thank you, unknown previous owner...!)

3.0 out of 5 stars Beware of Apex_Media January 18, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I rented this book from Apex_media and noticed when the book came there was a small tear in on the back cover. Since it was not severe I did not think anything of it. However, when I returned the book, apex_media charged me the full price for the book due to some alleged damage to the cover that was there when they sent it! I immediately contacted Amazon and they refused the charge and apologized for the mistake. Beware of apex_media they do not go through Amazon other than being fulfilled by them!!

Other than that, the book was ok. I enjoyed the read but the author is a little biased about family incomes and the probability of the parents being addicted to drugs and/or cigarettes. The author seems to have stereotyped families with low incomes. The truth is, it could happen to any family, not just low income.
