Book Description

2011
Caught in a reckless attempt to stop Dark forces, Sidney Davenport, a young, rule breaking, spirited member of the secret paranormal community of Guardians, finds herself imprisoned on a naval ship and slated for execution. Her struggle with the unfamiliar emotions of fear and anger becomes even more complicated when she can no longer fight her attraction to the very man who has orders to perform her execution. Captain Sam Waterhouse, a meticulous naval captain who's suspected of treason, teeters on a precipice between Darkness and Light. When he receives an unusual prisoner, a paranormal journey begins to unravel his disciplined life. All the while, humanity is unknowingly at great risk when two Dark forces team up to acquire control of an elusive power. Sidney and Sam attempt to quiet their powerful feelings for each other, only to discover they can save each other, and in doing so, they might even save the world. Through stunning imagery, an intricate and adventurous plot, and a strong cast of characters, Feather Stone gives readers a fascinating glimpse into the future-a future that is chilling, yet full of hope.

More About the Author

I am a Canadian. Okay, so you get a vision of a peacekeeper, right? Mountains and wheat fields. Correct! Oil rigs and Inuit communities. Rivers and cold winters. Give yourself A+. To describe myself, I would have to say I'm as diverse as my beautiful country and its people.

My husband gets a tad testy at times as I have several projects in varying stages of completion all the time. These range anywhere from digging up my flower beds, training my sheltie, knitting another afghan, Reiki, writing another novel, photography, geneology, the list goes on. I'm never bored - and I don't think my husband is. Oh, did I say that I also like to play poker, pretty good at it too.

With all that activity, I also love quiet time, sit in silence in a forest, meditate, and slide into a shamanic dimension.

I have experienced the paranormal since I was a child. Therefore, I don't think of these events as odd. They're gifts and I treasure and hold them as sacred. I met my spirit guide when I was about seven. Later, when I was drowning in a lake and laying on the sandy bottom, accepting death. My guide whispered, "If you stand you can breathe." I did as he beckoned and survived, obviously (LOL). Many times my guides have spoken to me, including my father a few years after he died. Now that was unexpected!

I believe everyone is visited by his/her guide though we are often too busy to notice the stranger offering a moment of comfort or assistance. We are all capable of experiencing the paranormal, if you so choose. Sit in silence once each day, even if only for five minutes. Empty the chatter in your mind. Enjoy the bliss.

4.0 out of 5 stars Which is actually 4.5 stars February 24, 2012
Format:Paperback
Oh my god!! No way i was expecting the book to be that good! I loved it!

The book is written mainly with two first person POVs, of Sam and Sidney. It starts with a small introduction for both the characters and the stories, by showing you some important things in their past. While i usually i'm not fan of this method, it was written nicely and it actually fitted with the rest later. Another thing, that i really liked was how good the author had understand her ideas and what she wanted to say. Even though i did not agree in general with how the Guardian's weren't doing much and i usually i should have been mad, their ideas and beliefs were so perfectly described that actually convinced me that they were doing the right thing indeed. When you see, a world so well created and an author who knows exactly what's is going on, there is no doubt you will not love the story. Plus, who says no to some action, magic and romance eh?

As for the characters, both Sam and Sidney were loveable. Maybe you couldn't see yourself in them but you could understand them and respect them. Sidney is such a strong female character. And i don't see that because she is kind of awesome with her powers, but because of how is letting herself be killed for the higher good. She is kind but not naive. And while she over react sometimes, she will say no, understand her mistakes and learn from them.
As for Sam, even though he starts as a dark character for his reasons, i liked that even then he was a man of honor and justice. I could understand why his people respected him and like him. He was also the character who grown the most as a person.

And is it bad that i like the stories, with the not perfect ending? 6-7 pages before it ended, i could see how it will finish. It made me sad, but it made sense. It only loses half star because, i just wanted to see more of Danik (Sidney's sister) who seemed like an amazing character and because it was predictable at times.

A great book, which is something adult and young adult. The only thing i want to add now is that i'm a really sad is a stand alone and that it doesn't exists at Am.co.uk(lucky Americans!) printed to buy it for my bookcase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely book! March 1, 2012
By Latoya
Format:Paperback
This such a sweet story, Stone does a fantastic job of enrapturing the reader into the world of Sidney, Sam and the Guardians. This book is full of love, fire, spirit and heart. Sidney is a spunky, compassionate character that through her many other lives are changed. The best part of this book for me are the scenes with Sidney and Sam because she is not guided by rules, and he is a walking rule book, so she is the perfect challenge for him, and he for her. Sam has courage and there is an intriguing thing he does for Sidney towards the end, that you'll have to read to see what it is. The story line is very well written, and I couldn't put it down. The characters are well developed. Sidney will grab of hold of your heart, I absolutely loved her, she was such a strong character that was so easy to identify with, as was Sam. I think the big theme for this book was overcoming fear and anger in order to guide your decisions by working towards the "higher good" to not allow darkness to smother the light. This is a great story about love, loss, sacrifice and spirit.

3.0 out of 5 stars Intense Mystery w/a Fantasy Spin February 23, 2012
Format:Paperback
The Guardian's Wildchild caught me off guard. The opening paragraph demanded my attention. When the story opens, Earth has been ravaged by natural disasters. Martial law is in effect. No mercy is shown to those perceived as a threat. Sam Waterhouse is a virtual captive to the military he is part of, there's no way out without risking his life or those of his children. Sidney Davenport is a Guardian, she was destined for greatness. When she is captured and sentenced to execution aboard Sam's ship, their worlds collide and are radically altered. Neither may make it out alive.

The Guardian's Wildchild really surprised me. I'm not sure why, but I expected this book to be more of a paranormal romance. There is definitely a strong paranormal slant to the story, and a bit of romance. But it really read, to me, like a mystery. And that's fine. The story was really strong, with the twist coming at every turn.

The Guardian's Wildchild was very well-written. I didn't love all the choices or avenues the story took, but the motivations were concise and well-thought out. The author seemed to have a strong sense of the story she wanted to tell and never took the easy way out of an awful situation. And I must say, I was very surprised with the ending. It was tough and raw. And I honestly never saw it coming. If you like stories that have a intense mystery with a fantasy spin, The Guardian's Wildchild may be the book for you.
