Review

“The perfect coffee table book for someone who views the show as "pure nerd nip".” –
Culture Mass
“An enjoyable read.” – Trash Mutant

“A love letter to the fans.” – Fan Girl Confessions

“If you like Felicia Day, Geek and Sundry, or anything web series related, make sure to pick up a copy of The Guild: The Official Companion.” – Nerspan

“A must read for any fan of THE GUILD.” – Things to do in LA

“Felicia Day, Kim Evey, and the team at Titan Books did a great job putting together one of the better companion books I’ve encountered. It’s not just a collection of art in a shiny package; it’s a coherent narrative about the creation of a web series that is a lot of fun to read. The cast and crew of The Guild are clearly passionate about the series and that really comes across in The Official Companion.” – Sketchy Details

“A fantastic addition to any Guild fan’s library.” – GameNTrain

“Someone went to a hell of a lot of work to design this book and put all the pieces in place, and whoever did all that deserves credit. It’s a classy package. Hugely recommended if you’re a fan.” – Comic Book Resources

"The Official Companion is a great read for anyone who loves the show and is a book that will make anyone who hasn’t seen it want to check it out. This book is highly recommended." - Renegade Cinema

The format is beautiful. It will look great on a coffee table or bookshelf. Every page is full of pictures, and the whole book is composed of interviews. Every word comes from a member of the cast or crew, someone actually involved in the process, with no outside commentary. Each of them talks about how they became a part of The Guild, and many of them reveal what they are doing now that the show is over. Even Wil Wheaton chimes in about his role as Fawks.

As a long-time fan of The Guild, I've found that this book answers many questions I've had for a long time. I feel like I know the people behind the show so much better, especially producer Kim Evey, who gives amazing insights into the history of the show as she worked alongside Felicia Day.

Being both a gamer and a geek, I am also an avid fan of hit web series The Guild. So when I was offered a review copy of new book The Guild: The Official Companion, my answer was an emphatic "yes!" I usually don't go for these sort of books, but I'm really glad I got my hands on this one.

To start off with, the book is filled with gorgeous artwork and photos, featuring our favorite guildies Felicia Day, Sandeep Parikh, Jeff Lewis, Robin Thorsen, Amy Okuda and Vince Caso. Each actor has their own section and we find out how they were cast and what their experience on the show and with fans has been like. We also get some great in-depth looks at their characters and in-game costumes. Wil Wheaton, along with a few other guest stars, get a little bit of coverage in the book, as well.

However, it is the section on the Fawkes-Codex painting that is my favorite. There's a photo of the original posing that Day and Wheaton did for that piece and there's the painting itself, so that the two can be compared.

I also really liked all of the discussion about writing each season of the series. As a writer, I'm always curious about others' techniques and where their ideas come from. We see how the writing becomes an actual episode and how all the details were put together to create the whole. The level of depth that the book goes into will make The Guild fans into even bigger fans.

Finally, The Guild: The Official Companion reads like a love letter to the fans. They are mentioned constantly and never seem to be far from the cast and crew's thoughts. And that's the main reason to pick up this book. If you're a fan of the show, it's a must have for your collection. And even better, if you're a cosplayer, there are some great photos of the in-game costumes for reference.

I received this book today and I must say, it is simply amazing. I am a huge fan of The Guild and anything that tells more behind the scenes it always a good thing. It is mostly written by Felicia Day but it has some exerts from the cast as well. I recommend this for any fan of The Guild.

I've been a faithful fan of The Guild since I discovered it after Dr Horrible. This is a wonderful behind the scenes of one of the first (and best) fan-driven web series. Yes it got "big companies" to sponsor it later...but in the beginning it was the (and still is) show many fans wish they could have found a way to put together. Felicia Day started a new genre and business model. Watch The Guild and enjoy the book.

I love The Guild. Have watched all episodes multiple times. If you're like me, this book is a must have. It really takes you through how TG got started, what the early years were like, the chaos, and the excitement. It gives you a great look behind the scenes and into the minds of the creators and actors.

It's very well printed and bound. Each page is laid out nicely and the pictures are all done really well.
