If you are familiar at all with Hungry Girl, Lisa Lillien, she has NEVER claimed to be any kind of a dr. or health professional. She does, however, like to eat. With all due respect to the previous poster if you aren't familiar with HG, don't make the book/author sound like she's not being truthful. The author CLEARLY states (it's also on the cover of the download as well as in the image above) in this 3 recipe "SNEAK PEEK" (If it's a FREE book, how much do you really expect to get????) all of the claims that I've said. I don't know if the previous reviewer read the disclaimer at the beginning of the download. Honestly, I don't think anything was read but the recipes, and even then I'm not sure. She claims that the book is not for vegetarians. However, (and HG fans can attest to this) any of the meat recipes you could use alternate ingredients to make a recipe vegan friendly. I'm not a vegetarian, but I know there are soy crumbles and other items available.
The first recipe is for Cheeseburger Mac Attack. The recipe includes typical HG items, such as lean ground turkey, frozen vegetables, the LC wedge cheese that HG fans love, macaroni, ketchup, and salt/pepper. It's cooked in a crock pot and if distributed correctly, you get 1 cup of the recipe per serving. According to MY calculations for WW+, a serving is 5 points.
Second is Rockin Red Velvet Pancakes. This is the one with the "dreaded" Cool Whip. First of all, it's Cool Whip Free, and it's only 2 TBSP., not 2 cups. Other ingredients include fat-free cream cheese, sweetener, a packet of 25 cal. hot cocoa mix, cocoa powder, mini chocolate chips, whole wheat flour, baking powder, fat free liquid egg substitute, light vanilla soymilk, and red food coloring. WW+ Calculation is 7 points per serving.
The final recipe included in this FREE book preview.... is Buffalo Chicken Wing Macaroni and Cheese. This recipe has macaroni again, celery, carrots, onion, chicken breast, garlic, Red Hot Cayenne Sauce, sour cream, LC wedges, mustard, reduced fat parmesan topping, and parsley. WW+ Calculation is 6 points per serving.
In my opinion, all these of these recipes look and sound like typical Hungry Girl recipes. The true HG followers will know what rockin recipes are awaiting them.
I can only imagine what the other 297 are like. Come on March 29!!!
