5.0 out of 5 stars THE FUTURE OF JAZZ June 19, 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is a very interesting album. Is a trio with the great pianist Stephen Gosling, that came from classic music and Greg Cohen on bass and Tyshawn Sorey on drums. Why is so interesting? Because is the perfect combination between classic structures, contemporary music and jazz . Like John Zorn say this could be the future of jazz considering where jazz education is in this days. Is not free-jazz or contemporary music is more than this. More near of jazz concept is a beautiful trio, amazing because the piano is the part more academic but bass and drums is pure jazz. Sometimes is very melodic and sometimes no. But probably Zorn have reason; this is the future of new jazz generation. Excellent and very interesting.
