Review

"Next time a customer brings a skein to the counter wanting to know how the fiber knits up, break out a copy of The Handknitter's Yarn Guide. Using quick-hit stats and swatch phtoos, New Zealand-based knitwear and textile designer Gabriel summarizes how a given yarn should act in use." ---Yarn Market News

I felt I already had a good understanding of the commonly used fibers but this is a fantastic resource for both choosing and caring for the newer blends and cellulose fibers including bamboo and Tencel. This is my go-to guide when I see a great sale on yarns.

When description said 'most commonly available yarns' i thought it was by manufacturer not type of yarn. Good review though of types but nothing you cant find for free on the web. I was hoping for info and reviews of specific yarns available

I thought I would purchase this book so I could understand the different gauge wools etc.. It definitely does that for me in one place rather then having to google it with each new project. I had hoped it would give more info as to substitung one yarn for another etc. and choosing the right needles, but you can't have everything!
