After 5 straight weeks of sleepless nights, my husband and I were walking zombies. Our infant would wake every hour to 2 hours throughout the night and just scream. During the day she would also scream uncontrollably - even though the doctor found nothing wrong with her physically. I had convinced myself that she just wasn't a happy baby like our 6 year old was and life with Isabel would be tough!
Then I searched Amazon one night under "Colic" and found this book and video. Even though we have absolutely no time to read, we did watch the video (while she wailed). My husband tried the swaddling and shhing techniques that night and she quieted down after about 10 minutes. Now 1 week later she calms after 5 min or so AND she is sleeping 4 hours at a time. We feel great and she finally looks peaceful - and not agitated.
Both the book and video are geared toward the first 3 months of life.... and the notion that most babies 1st 3 months of life are really the 4th trimester in their developement. Our first child slept soundly from day one..... but we were blown away with this second one. Thank you Dr. Karp! We finally feel like humans again and the stress level in our home has dropped tremendously.

Too much redundancy in this video, much like the book I hear. What can be done in 5 minutes was stretched into 1 hour.
The first 30 minutes are showing how to calm a NEW (under 3 months - "4th trimester") baby. The remaining is parents Q&A.
There are no answers in this video that you cannot find for free online. We were hoping to get something new out of it for our still fussy 4-months-old, but alas...
Also the year for the video says "2012". Are you sure about this? Some of the snippets look kind of old. Plus the paediatrician is talking about TAPING the calming sounds even though we have been in a digital age for a while now.

The author is selling tricks of the trade we used to know about and that were passed down from mother to daughter but were lost over time. Swaddling is huge, holding a child on its' side is helpful for calming, shushing or humming in a low tone also calms a baby. You don't need to pay for this information that should be free to all. Just google it or ask around to a bunch of parents and they will give you everything you need,

I'm sure these techniques work great for most fussy babies, but for our little one who had both colic and reflux i'm afraid no amount of swaddling, giggeling or shushing combined could sooth her. While I will say the video gives a great demonstration for swaddling which we used successfully for sleeping each night. Relief from the constant crying only came after she outgrew the reflux/colic stage - after 3 months, then like magic she was the happy baby we dreamed of. Please parents of fussy babies, don't be discouraged, while these techniques can only help, they may not be the solution you're praying for, but like so many difficult baby phases, this too shall pass.

That's 10 bucks not well-spent. We watched and rewatched and tried this in earnest, but the technique did nothing for our daughter. This may work for some, but the clever editing in this video makes you believe every baby this guy touches magically calms down and goes to sleep. Bull.

This was overrated. A friend recommended we watch this but we didn't feel it was worth paying $10 to see. The video looks outdated and the tips presented are repeated several times just making the movie longer. We haven't used any if the tips. It should be free.

Don't spend your money on this movie, all the same ideas can be found for free online. The movie focuses on 0-3 month babies.

I feel like this movie was somewhat useful but completely overrated. Have not recommended anyone this far to buy it.

Raised 3 kids, thought I knew most of the techniques for ssothing babies, helping them through rough days (colic, teething, fussy times). But this video brings NEW research and tips to make life easier for parents of new babies...and if you're an aunt or grandparent, you'll learn something new too. SOme of the suggestions are simply amazing, making specific sounds gently into the baby's ears and seeing an instant, peaceful transformation.

Many of these suggestions come from looking at life from the baby's perspective and, in retrospect, seem like common sense (but not as easy as it sounds, otherwise there'd be no need for this video). Well worth your viewing time and could bring relief to many an exhausted parent (and baby).

Seems dated and not as instructional as I would have liked. I wanted to know how to get a newborn to sleep if they are calm. It didn't explore that.
