Editorial Reviews

Review

It's fun and goofy and light-hearted. From drawing hand turkeys, to listing your favorite scents, to describing how you'd spend an unplugged day, it's all about simple joys that are unique to you. I couldn't help but smile the whole way through. (Perfectsentiment.blogspot.com 20091109)

I cannot wait to dig in. (Kotori 20091110)

Being a fan of happiness, I was thrilled to receive a copy of "The Happy Book" for review. It's filled with creative, thought-provoking exercises to make you happy! Basically, it's a scrapbook waiting to be filled with your own happiness.
(Paper Schmaper 20091115)

This book allows you to look past and put that negativity behind you. (Jo My Goodness 20091118)

A journal to celebrate what makes me happy? Yes, please! The book is terrific, because it's basically a place where you can document what makes you happy-- lots of room to write things down, questions and prompts to spark your happiness and get you thinking in a positive and fun way, and to discover and celebrate the special things that make you happy!

(Pecannoot 20091117)

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly What You'd Want from a Book Called The Happy Book November 16, 2009
By Effina
Format:Paperback
I picked this book up in a store on a whim, and was immediately charmed by its sincere and original approach to the topic of happiness. More a workbook than a dissertation, The Happy Book is full of thoughtful and quirky activities and exercises designed to keep you focused on the positive. The authors mention in the introduction that the idea for the book sprung from a conversation with a friend going through a hard time, where someone suggested that she keep a list of things that make her happy. That pretty much captures the idea behind the whole book--a collection of what makes the authors (and their friends and family happy). I also enjoyed the whimsical illustrations throughout and the fact that it's printed in purple ink (that personally made me very happy). The message of seeking happiness from within, rather than looking for it on the action end of store register was subtle but poignant, and particularly meaningful at this time of year. So now I'm ordering copies for my friends for Christmas. I think in a year that's been this hard, everyone could use a little extra happiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy for the happy book! November 23, 2009
Format:Paperback
Oh my gosh! What a fantastic idea! This is a chance to really stop and think about happiness. We don't do that. We are all so busy that sometimes we forget to be happy!! This is a wonderful chance to craft, write, reflect, cook and remember those moments when we laughed so hard our sides hurt....or cried from sheer joy. I am grateful to the authors for making me stop and capture those moments forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy Happy Happy! November 18, 2009
Format:Paperback
I went to the book store during lunch on a particularly crumby day at work and found this book waiting for me as if it knew I needed it. I bought it on a whim and am so happy that I did! It's such a fun book with happy stories and empty spaces with prompts and exercises to add your own happiness to it. It really does make me happier. Work still sucks, but at least I can look forward to reading and writing my way through the book on the train ride home.
