About the Author

Lori Gosselin has a Bachelor of Arts from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. After graduating from Dalhousie, she operated a number of different businesses ranging from calligraphy to Internet marketing, with Reiki energy healing work in the middle. Finally she returned home to the place where her passion lived. By then there were two passions beating within her heart – helping people to be happy and writing. The Happy Place was not the kind of book she dreamed of writing all those years when she was too busy raising a family and running a business to write anything longer than a short story. But the muse comes in mysterious ways. And when she calls, a writer answers. She lives with her husband in the country outside of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. Connect with her at her blog: www.lifeforinstance.com She hopes this book will help you to find the Happy Place in your life.

I'm getting to know Lori Gosselin over at her blog Lifeforinstance. I knew that she was a real quality thinker, someone who was willing to pay the price to find a gem in her quest for truth, but I'm just learning how deeply she travels! She's relentless! I read her book, "The Happy Place" in just a couple of hours. Every bit of it touched my heart because of the vulnerability with which she writes. As I neared the end I was taken aback by the overwhelming emotions I felt when doing the "Visit Meditation". It was so powerful. When I feel calm, warming chills, I know I've hit on something good! Follow Lori down the Path to Peace. You'll be pleasantly rewarded. Amazing.

As a healer, I really enjoyed Lori Gosselin's new book which condensed and distilled useful elements from multiple experiential, philosophical and psychological angles into an individualized healing tool.
And it was fun to read too!

I enjoyed dipping into this over the holidays. Everyone possesses unrealised potential--that's a fact--and the writer's optimism in being able to tap into this was contagious. The author's reminder, by Antoine de Saint-Exupery in 'The Little Prince', that it's the hidden well that makes a desert beautiful represents a simplest reason why this book is a treasure. The narrative of her personal path to peace is engaging and I am sure a good starting point for others wanting to reach that destination too. Haven't had much exposure to this type of literature and I'm happy to have encountered it.

Review of THE HAPPY PLACE
By Lori Gosselin

After reading this book, what strikes me about Lori is that she refuses to live an ordinary life, fraught with disappointment and frustration. Furthermore, Lori learned that the only thing between her and buoyant happiness is her own unconscious resistance, and she learned how to overcome this resistance. Lori does a wonderful job of sharing her personal life experiences to teach you what she learned.

Lori offers a powerful underlying message in her book. The message is this: no matter how important things may seem in your life, take the time to explore yourself.
Lori does not say this specifically, but she makes it clear in a thousand different ways.

What I love about the book is that Lori not only explains how she stripped away layers of self-harming patterns, she offers concrete methods that enable anyone to do it.

It is clear, that Lori values doing what her heart points to, not what others tell her to do. Moreover, she has learned how to be gentle with herself when it is time to make changes. Lori demonstrates this powerful lesson in several ways throughout the book.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to liberate themselves from their mechanical lifestyle so they may experience their unrealized potential. It is clear that one of Lori's chief aims was to get her `old self' out of the way so she could allow something incredibly new to shine through. I like how this unfolds in the book.

There is no adventure in life as wonderful as discovering a new world for yourself. Lori loves discovering more and more of this new world. Once on the path, Lori has never relaxed her guard against self-delusion. She offers wonderful advice on how to seek clear self-understanding that will strengthen you.

Do you really want to turn your life in a new direction? I suggest reading Lori's book.

Lori has put together a real page turner of a book. With great humility Lori has woven together a very insightful personal story of transformation. What is really great about this little book is that she has brought the reader along for the ride and in the process has put together a doable set of steps that anyone can do and follow to their own happy place. I loved here insights and believe that she has put her finger on a real key to personal transformation.

The Happy Place is part poignant memoir, part self-help. It's a quick read, but can have profound long-term effects on your life. What Gosselin does so well in her book is to take the most recent neuroscience research confirming that the brain is capable of change, tell us how she changed her own brain circuits, and then simply explains how the reader can too.

Gosselin recounts how her expectations were creating her reality and how we're all doing that every day. Once she realized that she was programming her mind with her "words" or "feelings" every morning, she learned to correct the negative programs she was running in order to lead a more happy, healthy and fulfilling life.

"Don't live as if the present is the past," she writes. Instead, check in with yourself every morning, asking "How do I feel?" Then she explains how to follow the feeling to its root - usually in childhood to the first time you felt this way. Once you become aware how your brain was "wired" early in childhood and became addicted to certain feelings, you can then choose a better feeling and change your words. Doing this every day for 28 days will rewire your brain, explains Gosselin, so it's a good daily practice.

Taking Gosselin's journey with her as she discovers why she is unhappy, or always feels second-best, and then dramatically changes her life by processing her own feelings, is very inspirational and can guide anyone along the same beautiful path.
