There are many self help books that give you practical techniques for dealing with limiting beliefs and emotional issues. Sometimes, though, you don't even realise you have a limiting belief. You only know that you once had dreams but those dreams fell by the wayside and now you live your life according to the expectations of others and often for their convenience. This is the area that the Hardline Self Help Handbook addresses. Using her no-holds-barred and relentlessly blunt style, the author urges you to take responsibility for your own life by examining where you are now, learning why you are not where you want to be, looking at what you can do about it and considering what's holding you back. She uses numerous exercises (or line-it-outs) to help you identify and examine the core beliefs, negative programming and emotional issues that are holding you back. Working through the line-it-outs, actually begins to replace negative issues with more empowering beliefs and there are techniques for reinforcing these new beliefs.

Once you know what is holding you back the author leads you through exercises that help you identify your goals and the steps you need to take to achieve them. She then shows you how to use vision boards and vision scripts to reinforce your new beliefs and help you visualise and attain your goals.

The book fell, unexpectedly, into my lap, at just the right time. I had reached a cross roads in my life, and even though I knew which way to go I found myself strangely reluctant to move in that direction. What I wanted was always out of reach. The book forced me to examine deeply, the cause of my reluctance and to take steps to turn it around so that I could actively pursue my dream. It turns out that deep down I felt I was not good enough.

The Law of Attraction is all well and good, but it doesn't work for everybody. Or most people, actually. But that doesn't mean that the rest of us are out of luck. The methods of The Hardline Self Help Handbook by Paula Renaye can help you get through the stuff that is keeping you stuck and help you move into the future of your making.

I've always wanted there to be a magic wand to make my ideal life appear. But coming up through life the way I have, I also know that nothing worth having comes easy.

Many people will say "I'll do anything to [have/do/be]..." But that isn't the truth. They won't do anything. And it is this limiting belief that helps keep them from reaching what they want.

What are you not willing to do? To counter the realization that there are some things you are not willing to do or give up, Paula asks you to list what you're not willing to give up. In my case, I realized that the things I was not willing to give up were the choices I was making to keep in my life, and those choices have a cost. This cut some resentments I was starting to harbor off at the knees.

So what can you do right now? Take some time and list five things that you are not willing to change about your life. Everything is on the table here. Consider if you are willing to give up a relationship, a home, where you live, what you do, everything. See if they answers shock you as they did me.

Disclosure: Paula Renaye provided me with a free copy of the book through YP Publishing to enable me to write this review, the full text of which appears on SimpleProductivityBlog.com

The Hardline Self Help Handbook teaches the reader how to apply tough love to him/herself. It's full of lists of hard-to-aswer questions that penetrate right to the heart of the matter. As the reader confronts him/herself and forces himself to answer the questions honestly, confusion clears and clarity begins to take hold.

In addition the book has structured writing assignments, that once again take you deep within to find the answers, and along with the answers you will find solutions because these writing assignments are perfect ways to enlist our subconscious in the fight to help ourselves and make a better life. You can open the book randomly and find a helpful exercise on any page, such as suggestions for making a vision board and script, or examining your dreams for guidance.

Written by a professional coach and a regression hypnosis practitioner, the professionalism of the book is evident. Available at Amazon and the author's website at:[...], the book is priced at $19.95 for the paperback and $9.95 for the Kindle edition.

This book cuts to the chase.

For $0.99 on Kindle, I went ahead got it, not guessing for a minute that it would be anywhere near as profound and helpful as it is.

If you're willing to look at the true reasons behind your own motivations and then take the steps outlined by this author, you can change your life right now for the better. It is exciting to follow the author's bare-it-all stories and see how similar they are to my own and then to have questions to answer honestly that really do help me to know myself, how I'm wired and how to 'fix' the parts that need fixing. I am ordering the hard copy too; I have to be able to highlight and write in the margins with my own pen!

LOVE this book, thank you, Paula Renaye for your incredible insights and willingness to share. Bravo!
