I also used this book on my Kindle as a reference and use when making hospital and home visits easily. The only one negative statement I would account for is the repition of the item on promises. Even though the lessons on Promises were good, some of it was repition. Other than that, excellent short book to read in one sitting.
Great reminder of God's Great Love.

Verse 1) Did you know that Psalm 23 is in the middle of the three psalms showing the shepherding qualities of God? A shepherd guards and protects: Psalm 22 - Good Shepherd * Psalm 23 - Great Shepherd * Psalm 24 - Guiding Shepherd.
Jesus delights to be our shepherd. Religion cannot fill that role! The author writes "The product of knowing the Lord personally as your Shepherd is contentment- the realization that God alone is enough." We shall not want. We live in a material world. How much of what we see is essential?
Verse 2) The shepherd removes fear, resolves friction, remembers food and repels flies. (Liken that to sin in us humans!) We are very much like sheep and we need the shepherd to help us with the above four problems. Only the shepherd can lead us to green pastures, otherwise we are living in barren land. Still water - sheep will only drink form peaceful water. The author also talks about the whelk which burrows into any oyster's shell, gradually devouring it. A lack of peace can do the same thing to us!
Verse 3) Soul Restoration
Cast down - fallen over. Three things cause sheep to fall. What are they? Read to find out but they relate to us too! "God's plan for our lives involves a journey." Path of righteousness - don't miss out on His blessings!
Verse 4) Shielding relationship.
Sheep are naturally fearful. "You can't climb a mountain without going through a valley first." Valleys provide water and wisdom. Our provision and sufficiency comes from God. In a crisis we need Christ. Do not go through the valley alone.
The staff is for defense, discipline and discovery.
Verse 5) Preparation

I have purchased a copy to be shipped to my sister in Pennsylvania. I will be purchasing a copy for my son & daughter-in-law also.
This is definitely a wonderful reference book for my library.
