More About the Author

Winnie Griggs grew up in south Louisiana in an undeveloped area her schoolmates considered the very back of beyond. With her two younger siblings and another family of three siblings for playmates, she spent many an hour exploring the overgrown land around her home, cutting jungle trails, building forts and frontier camps, and looking for pirate ships on the nearby bayou.

Once she 'grew up' she found other outlets for dealing with all those wonderful, adventurous, imaginary friends by filling notebooks with their stories. And somewhere along the way, those scribblings gave way to full length books.

Eventually she found her own Prince Charming, a rancher whose white steed takes the form of a tractor and whose kingdom is situated in a small rural community that she loves to call home, and together they've built their own storybook happily-ever-after. Their lives together expanded to include four now grown children who share Winnie's vivid imagination and her husband's steadier influences and are now out in the world pursuing their own adventures.

Winnie shares her stories with readers through her writings for Love Inspired Historical books. You can learn more about Winnie at www.winniegriggs.com

Format: Mass Market Paperback
I Ioved the immediate conflict faced by two people trying to hold on to the memory of loved ones. How Renny and Graham finally solve their attraction while honoring their dead spouses is touching and true. With the help of relatives, their community, and their church they find that life continues and doesn't have to be lived alone. The pace in the book is so good, that once I started reading, I couldn't put it down, literally finishing it in the wee hours of the morning. Winnie Griggs does a wonderful job of holding the reader in her hand, safe and secure, all the way to the end of the story. I highly reccommend The Heart's Song to any one looking for an uplifting summer read.

I must admit that the first half of this book bored me. The second half was much better. I really liked the characters and respected their problems. The male character had faced tragedy and turned from God while the female character moved on, leaning on God for strength and helping her two children. The idea of holding a bell choir as a memorial to her husband was rather interesting.

I really liked how the male character became the strong one near the end when tragedy struck the female character (sorry, I have trouble with names and don't have the book in front of me). There wasn't much focus on the daughter's deafness either, which I respected. She was treated as just a normal character. This being outside her comfort zone, I'd say the author did a great job!

Oh, I didn't want this book to end. How I would love to see a sequel or series to it. I just love Winnie Griggs writing, her characters, and the love of God she instills in her books. If you like a good, clean book, this one is for you. Thanks so much Winnie, BJ
